whY not join Steamrail Victoria as we journey into the Northern & Western Suburbs of Melbourne?
Celebrating 130 years of Steam Locomotive Y112, the Veteran Ballarat built steam locomotive will haul a mixture of our heritage E, W, and K type carriages along with one S Car with a limited Kiosk on board. Come onboard, open up the windows and explore the city's freight and suburban railway lines.
We will begin the day by picking up passengers at Newport Station before making the journey to Southern Cross Station where the rest of the passengers will join the train. Y112 will run around the train and the journey will begin.
From Southern Cross we will venture to Somerton Yard via the scenic route. After passing through North Melbourne we will head around via South Kensington to the top end of the North Dynon Railyards. From here we will pass over the Maribyrnong River and through Footscray's Gunzel hotspot, The Bunbury Street Tunnel. View the once busy Tottenham Yard before we head through Sunshine and onto the Albion-Jacana Goods Line. Capture the view from the 55 metre high Maribyrnong River Viaduct and keep an eye out for any Standard Gauge Trains.
