In the summer holidays, i had the opportunity to head down south from QLD so i took my camera, 6 rolls of 24 exposures and my sony PAS (point and shoot (a very good one, i must add)) with about enough battery for 20 pictures and...no charger

I had a day at the Zig Zag, the cockle train, went to the Tram museum and the national railway museum and i must recommend the aviation museum there as well. Going to pick up the CD of my Film shots this arfternoon but in the meantime here are the cockle train shots

The Cockle Train
Not having known there was any train there i went to do sightseeing with my PAS in hand. And low and behold we arrived and saw a train leaving Victor harbour and then saw signs. Having only enough time for one way we went on the next one. Here are a couple of shots.

Instead of scanning them manually, i had Big W put my film onto CD. I'm surprised at the lack of quality but being new to the photography world, my F-stops and exposure were probably way off.

Zig Zag
The task at hand: take photographs in the overcast, on film with no AF and no flash but only 3 LED lights giving me a sense of light. These are linked to my Flickr account where many more photo's of the day will be found.
A great day with the BB and thanks to all of the crew involved
(any photo's of someone that they wish for me to remove PM me and i'll gladly, but any photo's of someone are significantly out of focus or of the back of the head)

Foggy photography in the mountains is always fun and makes for excellent shots

Can you really still buy film these days, I've got a few ancient rolls of film from the turn of the century that I didn't think I could get processed, but I assume if you can still buy film, there must be a place somewhere you can get it developed.

Can you really still buy film these days, I've got a few ancient rolls of film from the turn of the century that I didn't think I could get processed, but I assume if you can still buy film, there must be a place somewhere you can get it developed.

Until 3 years ago, every chemist that I knew developed film. Then one disappeared, and the other two don't develop film anymore. The only one that does is a ridiculously expensive Kodak store.

Good to see another member of this forum still shooting film.  It looks like some of the shots were a little underexposed and the Mini-lab scan has autocorrected this to an extent.  However this can really bring out the grain (and reduce the contrast), which in some cases gives the image character (i.e. foggy scenes).

Colour Neg film availability and processing is still fairly widespread (though diminishing).  Most Black & White and Slide films are harder to obtain and finding a lab can be an effort.  In Victoria I know of only 5 labs that still do slide film (all in Melbourne).  Black & White is commonly developed in home dark rooms and you'd be surprised how many still do this.

Basically film photography has largely become a niche hobby, but one with a loyal and enthusiastic following.  www.flickr.com/groups/ishootfilm has nearly 60000 members!
