Harbour bridge shut (inlcuding rail?)

    Petrol tanker bingle on bridge.

    At the 14sec mark on footage you can see a Tangara back only a few metres from where the cab of the truck pushed into the fence between railway and roadway. Hard to tell but looks like train is moving slowly. But later on in clip the train is gone, so assume its moving.

    This is true as:

    -Bus passengers in the CBD can use their ticket to travel by train across the CityRail network

    -Sydney Ferries are also recognising valid bus tickets

    During the time of the incident and a bit after it, "Good Service" next to the North Shore line on the Live travel news/service disruptions table was an active link which advised passengers of doing the same thing as 131500trains suggested.

    Being the bottle neck that it is to the cityrail network, it would have to be. Otherwise passengers on the north shore will have to go via Epping to get to the city and vice-versa  Shocked

    Trains WERE slightly effected until the adjacent incident site was cleared. They were all running at a reduced speed past the site. There is always a chance of a hero acting-up at these scenes.

    That's is all the disruption was!

    They are in NSW. Tracks are cleared and made safe asap. Just because making safe may take 24-48 hours does not mean that it is not the same expediency.

    Saw this from my window at work! We were lunching in the rocks and heard choppers and coppers all over the place, then went upstairs to see the traffic on the Calhill at a standstill and noticed the tanker blocking the road surrounded by flashing lights!

    Not pretty, esp since the lady who apparently caused it (I say apparently as I heard this through the media, which as we all know are full of $hit most of the time) is in a critical condition in hospital.

    A third road crossing?

    I think there should be another road tunnel, and the 2 Eastern lanes on the Harbour bridge RETURNED back to rail.

    The road tunnel would replace the Western Distributor bridge, which is removed. The tunnel would go from Sydney Aquarium to where the existing tunnel entrances are at the Warringah Fwy. It would be 6 lanes.
    The 6 driving lanes of the Harbour bridge would be for Sydney CBD only (WD bridge is completely removed).
    There would be 4 rail lines, in a similar configuration to how the bridge was originally designed.

    Of course this would cost billions, and would require the NSW government to agree to some generous tolling concessions to convince private enterprise to get involved.

    ^ so you'd be removing the Western Distributor as between Grosvenor Street and Day Street? (only?) And traffic that is headed for the middle or southern end of the CBD and would ordinarily exit at Day Street?

    As far as I know, that video is not of a high enough quality to identify any person and ultimately any injured people.

    Would've been far better to post a link with a warning, rather than expose fragile minded (after much trauma and other events) people such a 42101 to it you goose.

    I would like to advise people that I had no intentions of highlighting the injured people, but am sorry despite the video quality obscuring much of the details. Rather, I was trying to share the scenes of the lack of traffic and the truck just stuck there on the bridge, as viewed from a train.

    You should revise your posts before hitting the submit button. Yes, I understand you weren't intentionally thinking of posting a link to highlight the injured, but some people will take it the wrong way. And will create yet another argument in this forum.

    You should know by now to revise posting boxythingy.

    Yes remove the bridge part of the WD. If required a tunnel entrance/exit for north syd could be built where Erskine St currently goes under the WD bridge (if necessary close Erskine St all the way to Lime St).

    Want to explain how it was not dealt with quickly sport Rolling EyesEvil or Very Mad lets see derailed train,crime scene major track repairs and all fixed in around 12 hours pretty damn good in my books.

    love how the australian reported the tanker to have rolled over, looked rather upright to me, if its true the woman was at fault then this serves to show what can happen to people who dont know how to behave around heavy vehicles.
