Hi All

Just wondering what fellow modellers recommend for lubricating our model locomotive motors especially motor bearings.

G'day Shazam 75,
I use INOX with the teflon.
The black can.
You only need a very small amount so a can last forever and a day.
It does work well and it does not go sticky and attract dust that then turns into a dark sticky glue like substance.
I have some K&M mechs that are over twelve years old and they do not miss a beat, nor do any of my Austrains or other brands of locos. (on DCC)
INOX does not hurt the plastic gears (well after twelve years I have not replaced any gears or other plastic parts) and I think it is a great product.
I know others will have their oils aint oils story as well but INOX is what I use.

Just to add a little tip.. If you are going to use the teflon INOX, spray a little into an old TAMIYA (or similar) paint jar and use a tooth pick to apply the INOX to your motor bearings, gears and the like.
I do get a bit heavy handed with it and, while it may not hurt anything as such, having the excess fling off in all directions makes a mess.

Yeah mate, that is the one the MX5.
I did not mention the number as I wanted to check but I knew it was in the black can.
Super junk auto carry the cans. The dark blue can is the standard INOX and that is good in its own right, the light blue can contains lanolin and is good for rust forming conditions and the black can MX5.
Yes, there are plenty of types of INOX and they are all good products.
I used to work in a tractor dealership and we sold the product and used it in the workshop.
It is that good I still use it even though I have to pay for it now
