The article on the drill entering a London rail tunnel has a lot visible BBCode.

Is this a mistake because BBCode isn't intended to be in news posts or is there a problem rendering that article?

"Speed"

I think only HTML is allowed in news articles? Happy to be corrected, though!

This may have been posted before, but I can't see it...

Is this site under maintenance every morning, or is there some other scheduled outage that would account for me being unable to access the entire domain between ~630-730AM daily?

I've checked via external proxies and they also won't load the site, so it's not just me. I'm a bit perplexed.

Same here often enough to be noticed including this morning around 6:20 am QLD time.

I am not sure if this is the right place to post this but I have had this issue appear twice,

I tried logging in to a wifi site in Coffs Harbour on a laptop and as it brought up the Railpage home page it informs me I am banned, I tried on a wifi tablet the same result. SHawn Stutsel enquired on my behalf re the banning issue it showbs I have was not,  I tried another wifi hotspot and I got in no worries. Tried the first wifi hotspot this morning the disabled/banned screeen appeared.

That means that someone was banned from that IP address. Before we can unban it we need to know which IP address to unban Smile

I would have thought a user would be banned, not an IP address. Wouldn't that mean the banned user could simply move to another computer and continue posting?

Users and IPs are banned. Picture a situation where one person is creating multiple sockpuppet accounts from the same location - this is why we ban IPs as well.

The wifi hotspot is named switched_on_coffs . Sorry can't help with any more info than that.

I did something that I thought reasonable, but got banned. I couldn't sign on to RP even to plead my case, and RP did not seem to display on the "notice of banning" any alternate means of making such a plea.

Fortunately, I had written down RP's snailmail address in Fairfield, Vic, and was able to send a letter.

Making things difficult even to make a plea counts IMO a "denial of natural justice."

I was unbanned a few days later.

That's fair enough. But (hypothetically) what if the person attempting to login had been a member for years, with no warnings. Is there any attempt at all to check the user status if they are logging in from such an IP address?  No particular reason for asking, other than curiosity (although I do at times login to Railpage via wifi at odd places).

Has anyone else had this problem?  I'm hoping someone can help!

When making Posts, I've lost the ability (and the buttons) for Italic and Bold Type, etc.  They used to work, but have somehow disappeared.  The header picture at the top has also almost disappeared, with only the bottom showing.

Also, the Search button doesn't work.  I can however 'right-click' and select "Open in New Window", but even then it appears clumsy, and has a lot of blank space, requiring scrolling down to several suggestions at the bottom.

The 'Forum', 'News', 'Content' etc buttons work fine.

Any assistance or advice will be most welcome!  Thanks in advance, Xg.

I got a different variation tonight with Melbourne's new station exits thread.

The thread was three pages when I saw it in the thread index. By the time that I'd read it, someone had reduced it to two pages. When I followed the "3" link, I just got an SQL error.

For some reason, it sends you back to the post (Via f-pXXXXX.htm URL) - And since it's trying to get a post that doesn't exist... well, there's an error.

Whenever I log on, there is a notification on the top line that I have a message to reply to, but the message does not in fact exist. It was a dodgy one from Matt Austin that contained nothing. I deleted it but I still get the notification.

The faulty search function turns the screen gray, there is a whirly thingy for a few seconds, and then the screen freezes.

I've just pushed through another code update. Please report back if new posts continue to exhibit this behaviour.

I'm getting some strange formatting in news articles. The current first article (http://www.railpage.com.au/news/article-12386/) has most of the text in very small print (unreadable except at 150%+ zoom) but one line in the middle (The solution, it argues, is a train connection to the airport via what is known as the ''Albion East route''.) at 'normal' size.

All others I can see at the moment are fine but I have had this problem (with random small text) the last few times I logged into RP via the home page.

Happens in both Opera and Chrome.

That's because people aren't clicking the "Remove formatting" button when adding or approving news articles. Fixed for this article, and a more permanent fix is in dev code.

Last Sunday and today (7th April0 I have had problems trying to upload to the Gheringhap Sightings Forum on Railpage. Nine of the ten attemps when pressing the submit button it comes up with a page saying "you must enter a message when posting"? I can not post last weeks but the one time it worked it posted todays (7/4/2013)?
Anyone one els noticed this problem? I still can't upload my 30th March Newsletter.
