DAZ 1906 is still in Picton. Its been a while since we had 2! DA class in town. Pretty sure D1562 is here as well hiding in the trees at Picton. So we have D, DA, DB and DD class down here.

"DBclass"

D1562 has been chilling in Kwinana yard for the last weekish, just north of the maintenance sheds. Seen it yesterday, dunno if it headed down your way today DB Class. The 2 angled vents either side of the no1 end (dynamic brakes?????), with the yellow/black stripes on the ends, look tops!

"Calla"

I will have to double check I thought I saw it but I may be mistaken.

Quite right I was mistaken. D1562 is not down here.

DAZ 1901 seems to be on rail recovery trains.

"DBclass"

Correction, rail distribution. When I saw it it was empty with QUR wagons. Now it is loaded, and seems to be unloading on the Brunswick Worsley Section.

The new Alcoa XF alumina wagons at in service. There is a heap of them on the train with a pair of DD locos.

After being stabled in Kwinana yard for the last few weeks in the same spot, I've noticed D 1562 has been moved to just north of the workshops sometime after Friday arvo.

Might be heading for a paint or maintenance, I'll have a look for it later this arvo.

Interesting. They are from different builders however. Whether that has any effect. I will note that the trailing DB i saw was 2311 i think, one of the Aurizon painted ones. So its possible that its had a modification to its own engine control. But i do not recall hearing any difference in aceleration, except what sounded like a bearing whine from the alternator (havent heard it before). I might have to chase it on the weekend and see what i can see.

the DBZ has a ZTR traction control system in it which gives a slower but more controlled response to the throttle.

"wn514"

DFZ's have the Traction Control System as well.

Has anyone seen P2511 with the maroon lettering of "AURIZON" replacing the "ARG a QR Company" logo yet? The photo is from the Trains of WA website

I suppose all diesels owned by Aurizon with the ARG Yellow livery with maroon lining, will have the same treatment as P2511.

"jt393"

It looks like an MS paint edit of a Photo that would occur on some forums...............

Just looked at Trains of WA site, and didn't see that shot of P2511. Hmmmm .....  must need new glasses

There's 2 new ACN's sitting in the southwest corner of Aurizon/QR Forrestfield, just in from the end of the intermodal siding.

Also, poking out if one of the sheds is/was a DC class wearing Aurizon pineapple duco

ACN4142 arrived in the Midwest yesterday. It was towed by P2510. 4142 is one of the recent ACN's to arrive from QLD. Maybe they have changed there plans to send them to Bunbury? They have just started running the 4th Karara Set recently.

How many L class' are usually stabled at Forrestfield? I counted at least 4-5 driving past about 5-ish. Thought it was a bit on the high side

There is an ACN in Picton. Just arrived. Did not get a number. DB 2309 is making a lot of noise. Something in the bogies. Like gear vibration, or it could be spalling of the wheels maybe ?

That would have been ACN4173.  As David has noted, ACN4142 has gone to Narngulu.

ACN4143 and 4175 are still at Forrestfield, while ACN4172 and 4174 have not left Queensland yet.

A few more photos added of the recent workings in the Midwest (with 4 Karara trains each with three locos, two MGM Ruvidini sets (two locos each and two MGM Perenjori ores three locos each and two doubleheaded grain trains gives a few photo opportunities), plus a few photos taken in the Great Southern and last night I uploaded a few photos taken in 1998 in South Australia.

ACN4172 and 4174 were noted on trailers at Forrestfield today, so looks like they arrived yesterday (Saturday).

Ok, I have searched everywhere.
Does anyone have the old QR numbers for the DD class fleet, perticularly DD2359.

I miss locopage.

I have them as:

2355 = 2101
2356 = 2105
2357 = 2109
2358 = 2117
2359 = 2120

If anyone knows better, let me know...

Locopage went away because it was too much work to keep it up to date...

Only difference I have is 2405 ex 2372, 2406 ex 2373, when I was in Queensland in 2010 2306 was still on the coal trains around Toowoomba and 2372 & 2373 were seen/ photographed by me at Forrestfield.

I had heard they carried their old numbers on return to Queensland but all the photos I saw in Queensland featured them as DFZ's still.

In fact it gets even more complicated, as the 2300 class from which the DFZs came were themselves rebuilds of older locos.

Is it legal to have double stacks on a regular flatcar? Intermodal rake @ QR Forrestfield featured 6 x 20 footers on top of a regular 60ft flat

As long as it is within the loading gauge that's fine.

It's a pretty standard thing, even for PN when they are light on for well wagons.
