    Well blame the government for over shooting their budget as the reason why the other 2 lines arent getting electrified. Well the government still apparently had enough money to avoid scrapping electrification on the Noarlunga/Seaford Line but I'm not expecting the other 2 lines to be electrified now until at least 2015

    I'd love to be a private sporting group; so many effing handouts so they can improve the looks of their books.

    Prove to me the benefits of paying for this stadium (& it's more useless bridge to the Casino) over the improvement to the Public Transport infrastructure.

    How is that the Liberals fault?? Last time I checked, Labor has been in power in this state for a long time now, and if I'm not mistaken, Labor opted to upgraded Adelaide oval and build a bridge over the torrens instead of electrification, so again how is it the state Lib's fault??

    It's the Liberals fault because they had ONE policy that was going to hurt Labor at the last election, an unneeded stadium, which the sadvertiser convinced everybody that they wanted, and Media Mike decided that he needed to take the wind out of the Liberals sails and promised his own stadium as an upgrade the Adelaide Oval.

    Which resulted in the sport minded morons sticking with Labor, which impacted the finances because the people who should have been paying for it (SACA & SANFL & AFL) got a free ride; and the trains lost out again.

    I think you will find though that the State Lib party were going to pay for the stadium out of the funds they'd have saved not building a new hospital, which not unlike the Federal situation has not run to budget.

    I am not convinced that the Liberals getting Media Mike to blink and build a stadium because he had no other idea is their fault... He could have chosen to do something else, instead he decided he needed a monument to himself.

    Yes, that Issys proposal to build a "multi use" sports stadium where the Marge ... errrrr ..... RAH2 .... errrrrr .... Media Mike Memorial Hospital is being build. Their plans were for the stadium to be built over the suburban rail tracks and was to include a brand new spanking interstate rail terminal also under the stadium where GSR would be able to magically berth 850 metre plus interstate trains at a single 400 metre platform!
    The Keswick APT site was to be sold to part pay for the stadium and GSR would store all their rolling stock in some undisclosed underground bunker somewhere!
    AND!!!! the Liberals concept drawings showed buslanes heading north and south of the WYE junction!!!!!!  
    Yep, bus lanes NOT train tracks!

    Anyone else here planning to go on the Belair train in 6 weeks to get a good view of the underpass? Really looking forward to seeing first hand the underpass closeup

    What we are seeing here is the same kind of hyperbole which accuses the previous Liberal Feds for the present Labor fiscal mismanagement. It runs like this "How dare Hewson and Howard run successive surplus budget and allow tax cuts to compensate for bracket creep. How dare they leave a surplus for Labor to spend its way out of the GFC?"

    The problem is that if they (Labor) shout it long enough and loud enough some stupid punters will believe them.

    It was not only Mike that could manage the media.

    All the mismanagement is a shame because some of the things done have been good and appear well managed, rail infrastructure spend is an example. The good things get buried under pink batts, unnecessary school halls and the spoil from the NBR.

    Good luck seeing much detail through the windows of a 3000, especially if the units have been graffitied and either

    a) they have not yet been cleaned or
    b) worse still, the maintenance crews still wash off graffiti using a solvent that etches the windows or
    c) the windows are clean but the contractors decide to take passive-aggressive revenge on the gunzels who've been poking around their work sites by putting up hoardings to block any view and allow their workers to get on with the job without being gawked at.

    I'll be on that first run Milkomeda, if anything is visible through the windows. I've noticed that not much has changed with the windows on the railcars. Have been working at the SAHMRI site next to the new RAH site for the last couple of weeks and have noticed the poor state of the windows on the passing railcars.
    Have had a good look at the work going on in the ARS yard too. A lot of rail, sleeper and ballast replacement happening on the Seaford and Belair lines along the platforms and right out into the yard.

    Would be great if the brainless idiots that like to deface things with graffiti and ruin anybodies property but their own, could grow a brain! Can't see it happening though, not in my lifetime at least.

    Belair line track has been laid north of Leader Street to Platform 3 of the new Kesville station. There is still a gap between there and just north of the old Keswick platforms.
    Track has now also been laid south of Leader Street towards Goodwood station (Belair line only)
    Millswood passing loop has been laid, Thermite welding and hand grinding happening today.

    Thanks to Catchpoint mag for printing the track layout in their last issue.

    Belair line track has been layed north of Leader Street to Platform 3 of the new Kesville station. There is still a gap between there and just north of the old Keswick platforms.
    Track has now also been layed south of Leader Street towards Goodwood station (Belair line only)
    Millswood passing loop has been layed, Thermite welding and hand grinding happening today.

    Thanks for the link.

    The track plan does not show that the slip crossing is a double. I can confirm this by observation last week made easier because the up facing point blades to the slip were open. There seems to be an allowance for wrong road working to platform 2 at Goodwood possibly as a turn back from Waywick. But then there are no absolute signals on the up line from NC protecting this movement short of Tonsley Junction.

    I think it is a work in progress.

    I notice the page has a Block proclaiming "Projected Signalling" near the bottom left, I took this as meaning the signalling is not exactly finalised as yet. e.g. a work in progress as you said.

    As already mentioned track work is being done at the ARS yard for the Belair and Noarlunga Lines. Also something I didnt notice before is they have also done electrification works in the yard the masts that weren't complete are almost complete now and extend over the whole yard.

    All this was done just after the Nairne Junction was relaid and in parallel to it. The yard has had the mast up and over all the lines for a a couple of months at the ARS all that needs to be done is stringing the wires and it is a goer almost. This was all completed before the ARS was reopened for business. The only sections not done were the approach tracks to the ARS from the Seaford Line there that was only because it all had to be relaid there.

    It is an act of the purest optimism, and I think I already know the answer, but I will ask this question. But will the overhead traction wire actually be installed on both lines between Adelaide and Waywick, and if so, will it continue to extend to Goodwood Station on all tracks).

    Ian, according to the draft posted on SA Track and Signal, there is an Abosolute at the North End of Platform 2, and a Red Light Absolute (with Low Speed) on that line for a wrong line turn back from Wayville, as well as a Red Light Absolute at the South End of Platform 2. I'm going to assume that 542 at the entrance to the underpass will actually be an absolute, not a permissive as indicated. That signal at present is an absolute for Goodwood Junction.

    TBH, I'm surprised NR4 and NR3 will remain post works!

    I'm not. It makes perfect sense for ARTC to leave their signalling mostly intact until they have a compelling reason to do a larger resignalling project - such as when the Torrens Junction grade separation is eventually completed or it gets permanently scrapped if the current SA Liberals get to form a government - we all know they would love nothing more than getting the chief toff Hamilton-Smith to call in his SAS mates to blow up the tracks.

    In any case, I think the "projected signalling" label only applies to the metro lines, and that for the ARTC line it just shows what is there currently. In support of this theory, note that the speed restriction signs for Goodwood Junction are still included, and we know for sure will be disappearing once it's all completed.

    Does anybody know the meaning of the blue icons shown by the Leader St level crossing? Is it for an illuminated sign showing something like "CAUTION - MORE THAN ONE TRAIN" or a more realistic "CLOSED FOR PROLONGED PERIODS, SUCKS TO BE YOU" instead?

    Weren't NR3 and NR4 controlled by DPTI which is why they are Adelaide Metro style signals not ARTC?

    NR4 is presently absolute where change it to a permissive would be more appropriate if it is to remain.
