Good Morning,

Happy New Year to all.
I hope 2013 is your best year ever.

The year 2013 looks like being a big year for the Merriwa Railway Society incorporated.

Our Museum will be open on Working bee days and we are planning an Official Opening of the Museum later in the year.

Planning for Platform repairs are in progress and work on the Goods shed will continue now it has started.

Planning for restoration of the Yard Infrastructure is in full swing with the possibility of the Stockyards line and the Bulk loading line being restored with new line being brought in with new Sleepers and Ballast being placed in that section. Of course all our planning has to go through UHSC, JRH, Railcorp, ITSR and the Office of Rail Heritage to make sure we do everything correctly.

Outside lighting for the Platform is also being planned.

So it is going to be a big year.

Regards,
Brian Leedham.

Now, now, Kev!

Some of us do read what is posted here, and it is good to know that a small part of our past is being looked after. As long as things stay on topic, and don't turn into a flamewar, I can't see why this thread shouldn't continue. It's not really harming anyone.

Good morning,

Well Heritage Railways can be a very exciting hobby.
Yesterday at the Merriwa Station, 4 new members joined the group and we had a rail enthusiast deliver some railway items which were transported from South West Rocks, NSW.
Of course the weather stopped the usual grass cutting , so that will have to be done at the next Working Bee.

If you haven't visited the Railway Station at Merriwa, and you are there through the week perhaps you could contact the Merriwa Co-ordinator.

Regards,
Brian Leedham.

I see that Xstrata Coal has become a sponsor of Merriwa now, they are sponsoring the rebuild of the station platform which needs a lot of TLC done to it.

Have to say the whole station area as shown in the photo's has been cleared up exceptionally well also the station work is a credit to all involved.

Without doubt the injection of funds from Xstrata has been a monumental help, & shows that corporate finances are really the only hope for the future of rail preservation.

Brian,

I have asked you before to put more info with your posts, and not just post a heap of links with a few sentences.
If you are unwilling to comply; I will lock the thread, and any further threads that you create on this subject.

Last warning.

Thank you Barrington Womble for that you get a sore hand always clicking on the links Mr Leedham supplies. It would be better to state what is going on in the actual post rather than put a link up to another site. I know sometimes it cannot be avoided though but for those that do not like clicking on links and there are a few by the looks putting the actual wording in a post on here is only a cut and paste job at best and not hard to do. Also one other little detail as well Brian only update the post's on here say monthly as well as it will save some electrons, small news items can then all be put into one update about Merriwa instead of several dozen in a month.

I don't get a sore hand clicking links - if Brian can't be bothered posting information, I'm just not interested.
  tezza Chief Commissioner

The major updates usually relate to a couple of photos added to the wall of the museum display or someone has mowed the grass, you're not missing much.
  a6et Minister for Railways

Personally I do not have a problem clicking on the links, as its not hard really, & besides it does mean that by going to the source there can be no claims made against wrong information being provided by a misquote.

However, I would prefer that the link would come up in a separate window, rather than the current way it takes you away from the RP thread.

What I don't like about it, is that it leaves the subject closed for discussion.
We're all about discussing things here on RP - but only if it's not a sensitive subject, or being posted to spite someone else. That's when the moderator crankiness gets un-leashed.
