Protective Service Officers deployment

Location: Last train to Skaville
There is however a different between being drunk and not bothering people to wanting to pick fights with everyone on the train.

I wish someone had told me that earlier. It's clear to me now why I keep waking up in a police cell on Sunday mornings.

A PSO box is being built at Clayton Station on Platform 1 in between the main station building and the burnt out foundations of of the old shelter.  There is also some sort of structure being built at Cranbourne but I can't be sure that it will eventually be a PSO box yet.

It looks like there's one being built on platform 1 South Yarra too.

They were definitely at Pakenham on Thursday night.

Narre Warren and Burnley now have PSOs as of 6pm tonight.

I noticed that some railway stations had their office window (for customer service) shut late at night (I think around 9pm), and they had PSO's on the platform.

Does that suggest stations with PSO's are avoiding a "doubling up" of staff presence by just having the PSO's? I know they don't sell tickets, but doubt many people would be lining up at that time to buy some anyway, it's more for the info and staff presence.

Obviously, it could also just be they were in some other part of the station.

At Eltham tonight , pretty sure they weren't there last Sunday night

This post has nothing to do with PSOs. I'm only posting this to unsubscribe from notifications, as it seems I'm getting e-mail notifications for new replies. I'd rather just regularly check it.
Please do not reply to this, you can just ignore it and continue your discussion about PSOs.

I can't possibly imagine what they would do all night at really quiet stations.  Take people's names?  Crosswords?

The other issue I have it that it's only after 6PM; believe me, that's not the exclusive time for drunk texta wielding teens and chroming smackies to come out.  Try catching a Franga train during the day and you'll see what I mean - especially during school holidays.

It's a political fix anyway - if there's a change of government at the next election you'll probably see the program wound back/terminated and all these PSO pods will be a reminder of what a political footy the rail system is.

I've been to Frankston a few times, most, if not all of them were during school holidays, and the worst crime I've seen there is fare evasion.

I used to work at Moorabbin and I always dreaded taking the train.  One day a really aggressive 'lady' was moving through the carriage demanding that people donate for her next hit.  Charming.  One time during school holidays some kids were using oversize textas in the next carriage to draw on the ceiling - I just sat there and didn't say anything.  Contrary to the latest government guff about 'say something, get involved' the first thing the police will ask you if you get your head punched in is 'why did you get involved?'.  All of this was in the early afternoon when I went home from work.

Maybe it's cleaned up a bit now but I doubt it.
