Thank you for the excellent and lucid explanation. The driver did make a very clear announcement at Richmond (as did the station staff), but I guess did not do the "disable" bit. My only remaining question is: Richmond direct to Flinders Street is obviously a known stopping pattern, so could the driver have reset the TD number on becoming aware of the change, or is it locked in?
Question: Do you want to sit at Richmond all day while the driver announces the stopping conditions then fluffs around with a computer and a book, working out the numbers to change the stopping conditions for ONE stop, or do you just want to get to that ONE stop.
I'd just want to get to that stop. One announcement should be more than sufficient for that kind of altered running.
