As Ted has pointed out Southern Rail will be attending the Toowoomba Show this weekend along with PGC and Black Diamond Models.

We will have stocks of the following:-

Vak Coal Hoppers
VGK Grain Wagons
NTAF Tankers
NDHF Sleeper Wagons

The big news is that we have secured a small air shipment of the new QR ALY Louvered Vans Packs 1 and 2 for the show.

If you would like to be one of the first people to purchase the new release please visit the stand early Saturday as it will be first in first served. These will retail for $185 per 4 wagon pack.

The reposnse to the preproduction models that were on display at the Brisbane Show was extremely pleasing and look forward to having these available for this weekend.

If you have any further questions please get in touch.

Just noticed a news update on Southern Rail's page regarding the Xplorers/Endeavours.
A few minor issues but they are being fixed which is good (see link for details).

Apparently they will have a revised website live tomorrow - that will also be interesting.

I find his updates very informative. I for one don't check all the model railway sites for updates.

I have something to contribute. I was already aware of these issues prior to this update. I made mention of this to someone who indicated they would pass on this info to the manufacturer. I am in the process of making light modifications for DCC to these models which I'm sure will raise some interest.

Not something I'd be after but a good idea putting ETA TBA on it. Can't tie anyone to a certain date that way...

Will be interesting to see if they actually tool all 3 different body versions of these cement hoppers as the old AR kits is the 2nd version hopper numbers 18201-18225.1st version hoppers 12061-12160 and 82030-82059 3rd build have never been done in model form.I hope they do as will mix in well with the AR kits versions.
Also interesting that Southern Rail Models chose to use a photo credited to one of the owners of Ontrack Models.

I just recently purchased a 3 car explorer set, but I cannot understand why so much space between the cars; especially when you put the couplers on?  It is not a good look when it is out of the box.

The "News Section"  - Latest Issue of AMRM within the Southern Rail news has them noted as being "announced" at the Newcastle Exhibition and arriving late 2013, early 2014 depending on available slots at factory in China.

Other than being supplied with different bogie types, and paint finishes depending on which build contract, which in turn dictated the code provided to them,

What body shape differences are there between the three contacts of the same wagon type, am willing to stand corrected but I was of the understanding the body shape was the same?

Its certainly my recollection that the basic body shape is the same between the contracts. And I don't think the average modeller will give a rats that the SRM version will have differing bogies or running numbers than the AR Kits version (which of course are still very much available). With the advancement of the quality and detail of RTR wagons in recent years I have no doubt these SRM wagons will have better detail than the AR Kits. But I'm one modeller that will be staying with my perfectly serviceable 12-15 AR Kits wagons that I have.

Bit disappointed with their choice.
