    Haha yeah I saw that too. I think the rant came from one of those commuters who also thinks that drivers make train announcements, guards decide which part of the platform the train stops at, train horns are too loud, train announcements are too frequent, etc etc. Great for a laugh!

    Or it was a post from Brisbane, as it was also in the Brisbane mX yesterday and eating and drinking is prohibited in Queensland Rail trains. 'Vents' from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane appear in each others mX all the time.

    That would explain some of the strange comments (such as drivers making announcements) seemingly about  CityRail that appear in the Sydney edition (I've always thought mX editions were dedicated to their city).

    Yesterday's mX had someone venting about train drivers not updating station announcements and displays. LOL. I know that isn't a train driver's responsibility in Sydney, but surely it isn't in Brisbane or Melbourne either.

    It IS the Driver's responsibility to change the desto/announcement system when the train changes runs.

    It IS the Driver's responsibility to change the desto/announcement system when the train changes runs.

    That statement needs some qualification.

    To which network were you referring? And what kind of rollingstock on the network in question?

    For instance, on the CityRail network, yes the desto would be altered by the driver in an S, K, C or T set (announcements n/a, as all done manually by the guard). However on an A, H or M set, the desto & relevant announcements usually click over to the next run automatically, but can at need be overriden (and to some extent modified) by the guard; on these sets, the driver has naught to do with it.

    As I went past Flemo yard on the Western Line this arvo, I saw a V set with its whole front painted yellow sitting on one of the roads. Sorry I could not grab a pic as my phone was low on battery (it does not allow me to use the camera when the battery's low).

    Anyone know why the 12:40pm Mt Victoria service started at Penrith?
    There was a V set in the yard, came into platform 2 then all to Mt Victoria
