Anyone know what sort of motive power QUBE are likely to use? Is it true they are guage converting a VL class loco?

Interesting article in today's Latrobe Valley Express (latrobevalleyexpress.com.au)
Looks like the Lyndhurst Intermodal Terminal is well underway with a 2014 opening date and that QUBE ,soon to take over the paper train from PN is engaged in negotiations with Australian Paper to load third parties containers from Maryvale .Does not sound good for the GIFT project.

GIFT project is barely staying alive. No one is willing to spend the money to revamp the place.

Given that the Maryvale mill Is set up the handle containers, It just a mater of Australian Paper getting a commission/fee from a third party user (subject to they being able/willing to do so)

In regards to the original post, the paper train was held at reds just on the Nilma side of Warragul for atleast 15 minutes that I saw from approximately 16:35 on that day. Two sprinters were in Warragul yard at the same time so I can only assume there had been a failure or incident further down the line.

Tonight I passed a T class (3rd series VR/Steamrail livery, no number sorry) operating light engine heading towards Morwell at 17:10 between Yarragon and Trafalgar. Crew training for QUBE or failed loco on the Maryvale freight?

PN would have locomotives to send to gippsland for a failed freight.  I would say Qube training would be my guess as I know there is a link between Qube and Steamrail.
