Jerilderie Mini Rail

After trying to get to Jerilderie when the miniature railway was running I finally made it on Sunday 9 June. The members who were on duty made us very welcome & took there time to explain the workings of their railway. The railway is located on the other side of Billabong Creek from the main shopping area & is accessed by a foot bridge. The railway has this creek as it's boundary on three sides. There are three possible routes that the trains can take although on the day we were there on two were available.

This wagon has been manufactured by one of the founding members & will be used to transport people with mobility problems. It was undergoing checks on Sunday.

The entrance to the railway & station were built around an old guards van.

Even though Jerilderie is off the beaten track for many of us this railway is well worth a visit
