Yes I noticed that the other day, this comes on a end of a "free upgrade" offer .... buy a red sleeper ticket, get a gold sleeper!
The BRG sleepers are Premium class cars, I think you mean the BRJ class (which were the Red sleepers) lately there has been 2 BRJ's on the Ghan used as Crew Accomodation cars, so they still get some use.

Train departed Platform 1 at 12:00 then backed onto the Red section for a final departure at 12:20pm
This consist will form the ANZAC special Ghan (4DA8 ) from Darwin to Adelaide departing Darwin on April 24th

I saw AN3 on Monday the 10th, at approx 1pm... was at Warnertown and Adelaide bound, carrying intermodal freight, with an NR in lead.
Was an interesting sight, as it was probably the first time I have seen a non-NR class locomotive in Ghan Livery.
My guess is it doesn't come out very often?

AN3 is the only non-NR GSR paint scheme loco (All other Ghan and IP painted locos are NR's ).
The AN class has been banned from Leading North of Tarcoola (refer to first post on page 52 of this thread) And as they don't turn the Ghan locos at Darwin, hence AN class units are no longer used.
AN3 now travels around the country (except the Darwin line) on general freight duties.

NR75 trailing unit to NR41 at Katherine yesterday, obviously detached from the southbound service at Alice Springs. It would have led out of Darwin today. Didn't see the train today as it was my grandson's first birthday party, and the prospect of a quick trip to the station was not well-received.
Will be interesting to see how the second service affects the patterns of red locos, at least until NR109 returns from repairs.
I head to Darwin Tuesday for a sparrowfart flight out on Wednesday heading south again until 2014.
