STEAM TO THE HEART OF GIPPSLAND • SATURDAY 22ND JUNE & SUNDAY 21ST JULY

Join us for our excursion to the snow – by steam train, of course. Forget the car for a relaxed day out with family and friends aboard the Vintage Train.

Settle back in your compartment and before long, Melbourne will be lost in a trail of steam and smoke as we journey into the fertile farming district of the Latrobe Valley.

The locomotive will work hard as we climb through the green Gippsland hills around Bunyip, Longwarry and Warragul before we make our first stop at Moe. Here passengers can choose from
the following options…

MOUNT BAW BAW

LUNCH AND EXPLORE WALHALLA

WINERY TOUR

RAIL ONLY

The snow train trip is off and running.  Reporters chasing the train advise she is well fired and roaring along 15 minutes ago between Drouin and Warragal. Running a little behind schedule.

Let's hope it is a good trip.

R761 arrived at Moe @ roughly 11:35am, 30 minutes late which was good cause I was afraid I would of missed it at 11:05 when it was supposed to arrived.

It is a very beautiful train much bigger than I thought it was spanned the entire length of the platform with the loco and half of the first carriage were without a platform. Aside from streamrail volunteers I saw a vline conductor in one of the 2nd class cars and a cube employee in the caboose. I will try and get photos of both when it is due to come back through at around 5:25pm.

See ya

Ch 7 news showed the train leaving SCS, and reported that it is, "one of only three steam trains left running in Victoria."

Any reports on how the side trips to the snow, wineries, and so on went?
"jakar"

A good question, which could only be answered by somebody who paid their fare and travelled on the train. Did any RP member travel, as opposed to just chasing and taking photos?

Have split the thread so this one remains about the trip. a new thread created as a result on a topic that could be of interest to any preserved or mainline running railway:

Keep your hands and arms inside the carriage...

Thats a nice shot. I love the text below the pic "...The steam engine dates back to 1889..." I think they may have gotten it wrong;-)
