Sadly the grain train I was hoping to film didn't show up at Bridgewater today, my friend told me it was somehow delayed by 3 hours, but not due to failures.

So once again I wasted almost a whole day trying to spot a grain train. I'll try again tomorrow at Bridgewater, fingers crossed.

There was a north grain today, departed north yard just before 10:30, motive was double GM's.

Bummer. Oh well.

I'm heading to Bridgewater again, on the train to Adelaide I spotted a CLP & 2 GM's leaving Dry Creek north yard with empty hoppers, anyone know when that returns to Port Adelaide please? Also are there any south line grainies as well?

Shame I don't have my own scanner.

The loaded grain train passed Salisbury around 1712, with GM-GM-CLP. Very Happy

Spotted 2 CLP's with empty grain hoppers leaving (northbound) the loop at Dry Creek south, anyone with a scanner possibly know its destination please?

Thanks in advance.

Never mind, it didn't come after 5:30pm. But around 3pm today CLP17-705 hauled more empty hoppers north.

Also the GWA ore train this morning was hauled by CLP8-FQ04.

This morning, 1911S had CLP8-FQ02 hauling the usual ore wagons, but with orange ballast hoppers as well.

Unusual?

2DA2 passed me at 9:44am with CLP17-GWU002 at the helm. The derailment on Saturday at the Islington terminal would've meant a very short turnaround in Darwin, hence why the GWU wasn't leading as usual.

Does anyone know if the DL's are just filling in for GL108 during maintenance or has the Balco finally out grown the available power of a single loco and needs the additional horses.

GL108 apparently broke down last Monday, it was in the Islington Workshops on Friday. It's likely it will be back on the BALCO tomorrow though.

I was wrong, the two DL's (50 & 48) are still running the BALCO. But it's better than seeing GL108 on the train. Wink

Well, after just over a week of DL50-DL48 hauling the BALCO, the 'big, bad & ugly' GL108 has returned to this train, to depart Pelican Point within the next hour. Luckily I won't be staying around for it.

Saw a grain train at Blackwood this morning, went through at approx 1020 hrs with 2216, 2212, 2210 and GWU002 at the helm. Ventured up to Mt Lofty to catch it again, it went through at approx 1055 hrs. The 22's sounded fantastic, especially 2212, working up the last section to the peak, plenty of exhaust fumes and noise! Pity it didn't have a GM and a 700 in place of a 22.

Thanks Greasyrhys. I assumed that this would be the case but was hoping that we would get to see more DL action back at home and leading.

The train was 1311 Karoonda grain. The train only had 2212 and the GWU working but the GWU's can normally handle a 40w empty train plus three hauled engines on their own.

Cheers,
