I have been watching the http://ghaploop.railpage.org.au and the http://www.railpage.com.au/railcams/gheringhaploop and notice we have not seen any QUBE container trains for a while.  What gives?

According to sightings records, 7919V and 9720V have only been through Gheringhap earlier this month.  The last UP movement being on the 7th June 2013.

The rumour is that might be the last of this train.

The last Qube train was on the down to Horsham on 8/6/2013. The loco off that train came back to Melb light loco on 13/6/13.

So does anyone know if this loading is now on the SCT train. Or have the complaints of the silly burghers of Horsham ensured this traffic has shifted onto road.

The SCT train I believe loads out of Dooen and was running at the same time as the Qube service.  Perhaps the loading has gone across to Dooen?

That is a real shame to read - one company has a custom built freight terminal and won't permit access, and the residents ensure another working facility is shut down. No doubt the same residents will be "up in arms" when additional trucks are on the roads, and there will be angry letters in the newspaper every time there is any traffic incident involving any truck (even if that truck has nothing to do with the loss of the terminal)...

NIMBY's, the same all over Australia.

Would have nothing to do with fact that QUBE and any other potential "common users" trying to run service on the cheap. Despite fact the news article rabbits on about the residents the fact stated by WCL is that commercial negotiations failed, ie; QUBE not prepared to pay to access the terminal at Dooen for which WCL currently holds the lease/ownership, so thats the story residents supplementary "padding". That side of Horsham not much to write home about anyway, the state of the yard being used currently by QUBE reflects its surroundings.

SCT won the WCL contract in April last year.  It was previously held by Qube.

Very soon after, Qube bought Westgate Logisitics who have the terminal at the Docks in Melbourne.

Qube immediately put terms on for the unloading of the SCT/WCL train that were untenable, forcing the SCT/WCL train to be unloaded at CRT in Altona then trucked to the Docks.

Six months later, WCL moved to the Wimmera Freight Terminal at Dooen, being the only bidder when tenders were called.

Later, Qube decide to run their own train taking their customer Viterra away from WCL.  Qube may have aimed to wipe out WCL's business which would enable them to take over the Wimmera Freight terminal at Dooen with no competition.  However, the other customers stuck with WCL, thus enabling WCL to survive.   Later on again, WCL merged with SCT to form a joint venture, ensuring the survival and jobs at Dooen.

All along WCL have been prepared to allow Qube to use the terminal at Dooen......on the same terms that are available for SCT/WCL at Westgate at the Docks.  It appears that the Viterra boxes will be going by road now, on Qube trucks.

Sound very typical and defeats the intent/purpose of Dooen to take trucks off road.
However I suspect there will be far more to this QUBE are aggressive (the "owner" likes getting his own way, recall the dock dispute in the 90's when he was the principle of Patrick).

Is it the case QUBE have been denied access to the terminal in Horsham?

I recall reading on these forums that the Qube contract still had a year or two before it was up for renegotiation, and WCL broke the contract by signing up early with SCT. Happy to be corrected on this though, it's often the case that rumours or misinformation become fact after being repeated a few hundred times, so apologies if this turns out to be a red herring.

The train headed north from Melbourne up the North East.  Either Oaklands or Southern NSW.

Gl103 and gl104 ran a grain to Geelong from the west over Easter. The locos have just left light via bunbury cam.

Where would the rake of SG grain wagons have been stored since SG space is at a premium in Geelong ?

I am assuming they are stored down there whilst the loco's came in to Melbourne presumably for fuel ?
