Crikey, that's a worry. A 'gronk' sound is remarkably like the sound an engine makes when it snaps a crankshaft Shocked

English Electric diesels have a weird sound to them though no two diesel engines (Motors) make the same noise. A 900 class SAR has a weird thumping and whistling sound when under load and the small shunt engines make all kinds of weird noises at times. At times it sounds like a piston is ready to come out of the block almost depending of course on how well they are maintained.

They have a sound all of their own like Alco's do some seem to emit a deep growl when throttled up and some simply just sound the same almost but at a higher pitch again depending on condition. EMD's to us sound foreign to SAR enthusiasts.

Nice job on the water tank as well

No real progress on the new layout since it was last mentioned here but that will change significantly after this month with two weeks leave from the employer to include at least one full working day to get it wired and track laid.

On the other hand the existing layout continues to give me (and a good many others) plenty to enjoy

Another "butt-ugly brute"
