    Thanks for that Alco.
    Are the grain trains normally a 40 car consist or do they do less every now and then?
    I didn't count the cars but it didn't seem to have 40 on it. Mind you it was flying up the hill, being empty, so it might have just seemed like less.
    I didn't think that all the locos were powered up, the GWU sounded like it was doing it easy which would explain what you said about a GWU hauling a 40 car consist and 3 dead locos easy.
    2212 was definitely working though, the exhaust fumes and noise gave that away, I do enjoy seeing and hearing the old girls being flogged up to the summit.

    40 hoppers is the norm but they some times run less. They have done a couple of trains out of Tailem Bend with 50 hoppers before which is normal to some of the northern sites.

    8046 is the current APT shunter

    PL1 at MPC for servicing, was reported to me that PL1 is becoming less and less reliable and there is difficulty sourcing spare parts for it.

    Edit: It is 8046 not 8040 as previously stated. Thanks to Clyde_AT26HC-2M

    Jumbos on the Belair Line today and yesterday.
    A six car set on Saturday, and a four car set today.
    Apparently signal testing and "rust cutting".

    Re parts, You'd think so, but I remember they had to have parts made in the past.

    Saw something strange today .... Noticed W1** buses on Port Road between Beverley and Brompton.
    So I assumed there was a shut down between Woodville and the City, but then on the way back home I followed a W1  along War Memorial Drive, and Park Tc, only to stop at the Park Tc level crossing for a railcar heading towards Woodville! After it passed and I was on my way again I looked west as I crossed the line and saw a city bound service near Bowden station!

    Anyone know why the service duplication was happening?
