I'm not 100% certain, but other than the "Spirit of the Outback" which terminates at Longreach the only other possibility I can think of is CattleTrains.

I saw a container train at Longreach station a couple of months ago. I may have been some abandoned wagons with containers on them though. Wink

Do any coal or ore trains pass Longreach
  Sulla1 Chief Commissioner

No coal or ore through Longreach these days, but there's a once or twice weekly freight that carries a fair bit of gypsum from Winton. The gypsum is moved in grey containers with green tarps and heads up to North Queensland. The Mt Isa line is the line you want to head to out that way to see ore and concentrate trains (about fifteen trains a day) or you have to head east past Emerald to see coalies on the Central Line.

The Spirit of the Outback goes there twice a week, there is one freight train a week and 3 cattle trains a week.
