Apologies if this has already been announced, but I couldn't find it with a cursory search.

Nigel Gardner (who also released the reworked F class chassis) has an Rx kit in the works.  I saw an early prototype over Christmas, and it looked quite nice.

He's currently taking deposits can can be contacted at nige@senet.com.au.

Bit of an update on this kit.
Seen the running prototype tonight and it impressed all who seen it.
Had no problems hauling 6 centenary cars up slight grades.
Have a few photo's as well.

Deposits are still being taken for these models and Nigel can be contacted by the email in the above post,
Cheers

Have a bit of an update on the Rx kits.
The prototype has been almost completed and painted.
The model is a credit to the builder.
It will be on display this weekend at the Golden Grove exhibition.

Just wondering, does the smokebox come pre-formed?

Great looking kit. Very tempting as I have a bit of SAR rolling stock.

Hi All,

On behalf of Nigel.

Nigel Gardner (of The Model design Studio) has been developing an HO scale brass and whitemetal kit of an Rx locomotive. The kit is expected to cost $500 and Nigel is looking for deposits of $100 to secure a kit. Nigel can be contacted by email at: nige@senet.com.au or by post at: PO box 117 Woodville SA 5011 or by phone on (08) 8268 8203 (5-8pm).

I would add, this kit will have all Australian made components (minus a mashima motor),and was completely designed by Nigel.

On behalf of Nigel,
The smoke box is formed from brass etchings.A substructure is built and then a wrapper in soldered over the top.
The SAR model Co. F class smokebox is built the same way.The assembly goes together very easily.

Just be aware that there was a brass RX ready to run done years back and while they do run alright as bought they can be made better by rebuilding them. There was an article in the Modelling the railways of Sth Australia one year about the rebuild of these brass locomotives. These were made overseas though and are not from Nigel Gardener. So if you are after a well built Rx from Nigel just be aware of this fact.

I am, and everyone still says it's the best running Ajin Rx they've ever seen... I have still not painted it yet, too scared to pull it apart, might not quite so sweetly when it goes back together!

I know for a fact that it was not run much, if at all but I can remember him saying he was thinking of buying it, he did not have a layout when he got that. It should be a stock standard one if that is possible in brass models. You might just be lucky with that one Aaron. My ex boss and friend though had plenty of model railway friends though so it might have got a remotor from one of these friends. The former owner was a  founding member of the Pacemaker club years before SARMA even.
