In this thread, I will be discussing the features of the 'Flying Scotsman Down Under With Pure Steam' DVD. This DVD focuses on the world famous Flying Scotsman/4472's visit to Australia during 1988 (Australia's Bicentennial Year) and 1989. Locomotives featured in this DVD are:

The first part of the DVD, Flying Scotsman Down Under shows some of the Flying Scotsman's travelling in Australia in 1988 and shows its travelling in Australia in 1989. Flying Scotsman Down Under features:

*The Flying Scotsman's Official Welcome to New South Wales
*Flying Scotsman's visit to Thirlmere NSW, home of the NSW Rail Transport Museum
*Parallel runs in Victoria with R761 and R707
*Double Heading with 3801 to Brisbane
*The Flying Scotsman and the Ghan in Alice Springs

The second part of the DVD, Pure Steam shows the Flying Scotsman's first two months in Australia and the Aus Steam 88 Celebrations in Melbourne. Pure Steam features:

*1210 and 3112 travelling in NSW and Victoria

This DVD is certainly worth having a look at and it's a fantastic DVD as it shows famous locomotives from the UK, NSW and Victoria in action around Australia.

The DVD has been out for years, in fact I got my copy not long after ABC released it. I think many would have worn out their VHS copy before this anyway. Razz

This DVD is certainly one of my favourites. My two favourite parts from the DVD would have to be the Flying Scotsman/4472 & 3801 making their way to Brisbane and the triple parallel run during Aus Steam 88 with 3801, D3639, K153 and R761.
