    TrackSAFE with Thomas & Friends


    Tuesday, 13 August
    1.00pm to 4.00pmPlatform One, Central Station

    Calling all 2–5 year olds!

    Children between the ages of 2 and 5 are invited to attend this free TrackSAFE with Thomas & Friends event in their favourite Thomas gear. Peep peep!

    They will meet a life-size Thomas and learn about rail safety.

    The chance to meet Thomas in person makes this an unmissable event for your child, but it is more than just fun. TrackSAFE with Thomas & Friends has been especially designed to equip 2–5 year olds with rail safety knowledge that will stay with them for life. It could even save their life.

    What your child will experience

    Over around one and a half hours children will meet the life-sized Thomas the Tank Engine and join in fun rail safety learning activities with other children.

    • 'I know how to be trackSAFE' – a platform safety drawing activity
    • 'I can show I am trackSAFE' – to practise strategies for being safe around trains and tracks.
    • Practise getting on and off the train safely.
    • Story time – a special guest will share Thomas & Friends books in the reading corner.
    There will be face painting and a balloon artist, plus the opportunity for your child to explore, and even have a photo taken with Thomas. It's a fun afternoon of rail safety activities designed to help keep your child safe whenever they catch the train with you.

    How to register

    It's first come, first served. Just come to Platform One, Central Station, on the day and register for your timeslot. Timeslots will be available every 15 minutes starting at 1.00pm. The last timeslot will be at 3.00pm. You will need to stay with your child throughout the event.

    Note that media and photographers will be there. However, your child will not be photographed without your permission.

    It was there last night and seemed to have all seats stripped out. Maybe getting ready for conversion to the purple interior?

    I think the final timetable will be released soon. This morning a NSW TrainLink representative and the station manager were promoting the new train timetable coming on 21 October. I told him I'd already seen it and he was curious to know how I knew, I told him I saw the leaked documents.

    V8 has had it's internal fittings removed in preparation for a refit. There are more planned for us to do.

    The T set probably there for a wheel turn.

    At Tempe station, a tangara that just was about to cross the bridge over Cooks River to reach Tempe station, suddenly stopped and all the doors suddenly opened. I was on Holbeach Avenue going for a walk when I saw it. I didn't bring my camera but I'm certain it happened. By the way, a few minutes later, the doors slowly closed, much slowly than usual. By the way, that was on friday at around evening. Why did that happen?

    When that happened to me on the 6:23 Campbelltown to Goulburn train, the guard said you could just use the station toilets and just tell the guard if you need to relieve your bladder so the train won't leave you behind.

    In the morning whilst waiting for my connecting train at Redfern (around 05:50) a 2 car K Set passes by.

    Any ideas on where this is heading ??

    That was probably the 5:45am Central to Newcastle service operated by the 2 car K set so it can do the shuttles between Morriset and Newcastle although I think now they are done by a 4 car H set?

    Just looking at tripview and came across a central - wyong service where it says it is run 5L03 and the set is Z.1, leaving central at 09:52.
    Would anyone be able to tell me what this run may be?

    The number indicates that it is a heritage train operated by 3801ltd. I'm not sure why it appeared in TripView, although the Heritage Express steam shuttles to/from Clyde did too, earlier this year. It was reported elsewhere as being 4918 and four cars, I'd presume it to be a charter train of some type.

    That's an interesting one!! considering it stops at Strathfield-Hornsby-Berowra then express to Wyong.

    i saw this heritage train passing though woy woy this morning it was a 49 i think and four carriages i was wondering where it was going
