I'd be interested to know what the current setup is with Workshops site. Do PTA lease the space from the MRA? Will it continue to be used for such purposes in the future? Will the building remain accessible by rail? Are there multiple usable tracks?  Is there fixed machinery to carry out the bogie exchange or does machinery need to be brought in?

It seems that track 6 is the one still connected, and the bloke from the MRA that deals with enquiries (Kieran?) seems to think that there will the one track remaining in the open square after all the redevelopment work is done - to allow rail access to the main square for display, etc apparently. If you get the chance, the doors to the outside footpath were open all day on Saturday whilst they were working, and you could see everything inside the building - drop on through and have a look.

You would need loud repetitive announcements and/or bright LED notice boards above doors for this to be practical, in addition to a widespread campaign to educate the general public. Many passengers currently still don't know which side to get off, despite it being shown on the current LED notice boards. Would also be very hard to alight if the train was fully packed during rush hour. I guess the end carriages could be designated 'express' carriages to get around this. But would it ultimately cheaper than extending platforms?
Wool Stores
You will never be able to educate the ignorant. There are plenty of places around the world where certain carriages are designated for different stations. Lots of systems spit trains half way through a journey so you need to be in the right half of the train for where you want to go. Even NSW stop 8 car trains at a 1 car platform, with minimal announcements letting you know what car you need to be in if thats where you want toget off.

Well, that was a surprise!  I'll have to change my description on my photo of MA1862 with set 94 "heading for the workshops for the last time"

I half expected a bulldozer to follow MA1862 out last time.

The railcars were picked up this afternoon by DAZ1901, with take 2 being successful.  After a brief stay at Forrestfield, they should be heading to Claisebrook in the wee hours of Saturday morning.

Just received information from one my associates:
20:32 07/09/13
Set 5095-6096-4094 seen doing brake testing along Joondalup Line.

I have also been told from two weeks time, it will be testing, also to note it also looks a look newer in regards to the body work of the
B series EMU compare to its other units.

Cheers

Hi all,
Does anyone have an indication of when the next B series will be arriving from QLD to the Midland Workshops? My 7 year old is on holidays and wants to see them shunt it in as he didn't get to see set 95.

Thank you in advance.

The next set was supposed to be due around 3 months after the first of the new order, which would make it around November.

Wow that's a fair gap between deliveries but I guess distance would be a factor too. Thanks for your reply.

That was probably the day I saw it on that line.  It went to Thornlie and back, I think.  Can't mistake the sound of the B-set horns and motors.
