Albury train accident?

Anbody know whats happened to an Albury VLine service. I have heard word an N class loco has apparently hit a tree. The source a Victorian public transport users association spokesman was talking on Albury local ABC about looking for SG loco bogies. The Albury service has been cancelled since early in the week. The ABC also had a drivers union rep talking I missed that also.

The two afternoon V/Line services have been cancelled. Perhaps its because of this?

Train hit a tree near Euroa last Friday - sounds like they are now out of locos. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2013-08-28/buses-to-replace-trains-on-albury-melbourne-rail/4917180

there is mention made about N470 hitting a tree and being damaged and another standard gauge N class being booked out of service due to rough riding leaving a shortage of standard gauge locos in the v/line fleet changes thread in the victorian forum

Sources tell me that N469 has been replaced with N463 on the SG.

So N463 has been temporarily converted to SG?

I'd say permanent.

N469 would return to BG duties.

Does Vline seriously need to consider buying a Vlocity on SG as a backup for occasions just like this?

I don't think N469 was ever replaced, because two of the Albury services each way are being replaced by coaches. That would mean N453 would be running the remaining services.

The SG P was apparently out and about the other day. no chanse it would haul one of these trains; perhaps a carriage less ?

Are any other SG locos allowed to haul the Albury pass? If V/Line hired a G or NR?

Why ? A G would probably do a better job anyway .

Last time I checked, VLP don't own any G classes or NR's...

Besides, and NR would s**t all over a G any day!

Many thanks for the info, that explalns the little I have heard, must have been a big tree as there is no trees on the railway reserve round that way. One has seen a tree fallen over the line before though, only the top most branches usually reaching the track.

Note to Railpage staff, the reason for the question marks was to indicate the post was a "kite flying" exersize, ie  that the subject had in no way been verified and could well have been total rubbish.

Judging by this photo I stand corrected.
