Important news on the Junee Fathers Day Express that Heritage Express put up on their website yestersay:

All seats on-board the XPT (for the return journey from Harden to Junee) are now sold out. For passengers able to make their own return arrangements, one-way tickets are now being offered for the forward, northbound sector — on the steam train from Junee to Harden.

Wow, if anything was to sell out I would have thought the HE train would.

How come the train is departing from Campbelltown instead of Central?

I would surmise that it is easier to start the journey from Campbelltown than trying to obtain a path out of Central in morning peak.

3642 was only a few minutes late into Harden.  A quick 10 minutes for a checkover and she was off heading south with much steam blowing off and picking up speed for the big climb up to Demondrale then onto Coota.  She looked the part and couple dozen railfollowers were on hand to recording the event.  I am looking forward to Sunday for her return to Harden but this time I will bring an extra batt for the camera.

The Late Goulburn Report

Hi all,

The two RTM specials passed through Goulburn earlier today.

6S13 (3642 and train) moved to Goulburn Workshop (AHSC) for servicing and watering and was stationed on the eastern side of the workshop whilst this work was undertaken.  All vehicles proceeded to the workshop.  The train consist was short one passenger carriage (the MBE was missing).

6L51 (led by 4520 and 44211) went past the workshop at 13:26, over half an hour early.  There were (I think) 11 vehicles in the consist, rather than 9 as per the TAA.  It was difficult to be sure as I was watching through a rather dirty window from the roundhouse, and over the top of a stored Qube grain train.

3642 had an extended service (until 14:06) and returned to the station and passed the workshop and roundhouse at 14:23 (about 10 min late).  She sounded to be in fine fettle with a safety valve lifted whilst climbing the grade past the workshop until she was shut off under the highway bridge.

Happy touring,

John

Can you please stop regurgitating the tour brochure?

Those who are there don't need the running commentry. Those of us who are not there, don't need the brochure being repeated either. We're more interested in reports, and photos from the people who are lucky enough to be able to chase the Pig about.

Stop post-whoring.

First, and final warning.

Well I had a great day to The Rock and back. There should be some great photo's about as there were dozens of people with Big As# shooters on the sides of the track, bridges, farms and back roads. If I had thought earlier i could of pointed out some other spots.
Anyway a top day by all. i will have to get some photos of my trip soon.
A good job also by 44211 and to the 2 end refurb carriages.

What a brilliant few days away. Really quite enjoyable...

A+ to the Rail Transport Museum/Heritage Express for running this tour. 3642 put on quite a show... Smile

Being from Melbourne, a group of us traveled up to chase it around. With also traveling a shuttle...

It was really quite sad and appalling with this one rail enthusiast. Who chose to place himself and camera in front of the photo line at Bethungra waiting for the pig to do the 2nd loop... With numerous requests to move and denied all. You even had a vest on... Really a vest? Christ. Rolling Eyes
But I'm sure not only myself and others will go out of our way to stand in front of you next time. You really brought down that morning and pissed off a lot of people...

A video clip of 3642 departing Junee on Saturday morning for Wagga, what a great 4 days following the train out to Wagga and back.  It appears the shuttle runs in Wagga were a big hit. It seems all carriages were mostly full on all 6 shuttle runs.  Well done to the friendly volunteers and the Staff of the NSWRTM.

That is just appalling behaviour, especially if there was already an established photo line set up when the person arrived. I don't know if I'ld been able to contain myself if I'ld been there - I reckon a few rocks may have been thrown. Did you happen to notice what type of car he was driving?
