A train has met with a truck today, not far from Geelong.
You can understand why VLP are so anal about adequate crossing protection on lines that DMUs operate on before they run over 70km/h. God knows what the damage would've been like if a VLocity was the train involved in this crash.I recon if you look at the result of the collision of a vlo vs truck on the Ararat line a few years ago you would have been on the money here as well.
At the risk of being Captain Obvious, seeing as the train has the right of way at a crossing, shouldn't the post be titled "Truck Slams Into Train At Crossing Near Geelong"??? Or does the road lobby ensure headlines like that never appear?"Truck In Level Crossing Accident".
Police are investigating whether sun glare was a factor.
"A truck loaded with dirt drove through an uncontrolled level crossing about 9.30am on Pettavel Rd, Freshwater Creek."
"Police said the ute hit a dip in the road and crashed through the boom gates before hitting the train and cartwheeling alongside the tracks."
In this case, are there any uncontrolled level crossings under your definition in Australia at all?
In this case, are there any uncontrolled level crossings under your definition in Australia at all? There are a few around with no signs, including one between Diamond Creek and Eltham (although it's just a driveway). I also recall seeing a couple on the Hopetoun line.
