Thanks for the photos Alex.
Thanks Alex the evidence might silence the doubters/knockers for a minute or two, bloody good work to get it up and running in time, suspect there will be at least 2 consists on shuttles this yearYes, I think a couple of early posters are eating humble pie about now, of course, they will deny any negative attitude.
Well I did notice that trains had to turn back just south of the platform when i went to the show which added a few minutes to the return trip.
I noticed this caused confusion among passengers because I remember when I was coming back from the show on Wednesday the train briefly continued on the Noarlunga down track and some people actually though the train was heading to Belair/Noarlunga. Since platform 2 at Wayville is not operational the driver is forced to switch tracks at the crossover south of the Wayville station causing confusion among the RAS commuters its either that or decrease the frequency of the show trains to 25-30 minutes.Did they not have an audio announcement on departure to reassure people of that? That's not just a customer service* issue, it runs the risk of a passenger getting anxious and making a perfectly reasonable use of the emergency brake handle.
Well done to the department for getting things pushed through in time for the shuttle service to operate, it just goes to show anything is possible if the will to get it done is there.
Hopefully this push to get one platform active won't cause much of a delay to the completion of the whole station. It would also be good if the department's person responsible for getting butts into gear for the Wayville station could also start applying the same pressure to the teams working bankers' hours on the Goodwood underpass and electrification projects!

* to get a customer service ethic at Adelaide Metro would require issuing a tender for the importation of expertise from overseas.
The clanger being ... ?Can anyone tell me what has happened with Signals 412 and 413 in the first 2 photos of this post since the show has finished and the signal gantry has now gone up? Is 413 still single aspect?
The photos below taken on Saturday at Wayville show that
(a) new signals have been installed on the Seaford line including signal 413, a single aspect (fixed red?) on the Down Seaford opposite Maple Ave and and signal 412 with single feather (only to Up Seaford and not Up Belair)
(b) the access mound over the Seaford lines to the island platform has been removed.
These suggest a shuttle service to the Wayville down platform is planned. The Royal Show 2013 map http://www.adelaideshowground.com.au/public/download.jsp?id=5662 shows a single platform rail station adjacent to the Dog Pavillion (ie the site of the Down Seaford platform).
