Seriously, are we allowed to post circulars again or are you ignoring your own policy because it suits you?

I cant recall ever stating a circular or details of or from a circular could not be posted here.
Why would we block that?

At lethbridge and no sign as yet.

Brian, 'S' circulars are not for public distribution.

If you are lucky enough to acquire one, it is usually because whoever supplied it to you, trusts you. With that trust comes the responsibility of not posting it in public places, as it unfortunately does attract a lot of less-than-desirables. Generally rail workers won't give out circulars, because it can jeopodise their employment. Mainline heritage groups won't, because they want people to support them. 'S' circulars are handed out on heritage trains to paying passengers, so that they have an idea of where they are, and where they are due at any given time. This is however, only done as a courtesy, and also so that passengers aren't continually asking train staff where they are.

Why do you think 'S' circulars aren't posted in places like RP from the get-go?

It doesn't take much to work it out.

A while ago now a directive was handed down somewhere on here that direct copy and pasting of the circulars were no longer allowed, but times could be posted here and there. A departure time or at a certain location, instead of the whole in detail circular. I'm sure if anyone can be bothered to look it up, it'll be there!

So we cant post any detail from a circular bit we can stand next to 10 people who have a copy.

Does not make sense to me.

Yes, but are these people rail workers, or volunteers for Steamrail? That would be the difference between you and them.

So has she made it to her destination yet?

Apparently she's at Geelong loco, and won't go any further today. Trouble with a hot axlebox.

Correction to that. Reports from other social media say it went through Werribee a couple of minutes ago (18:30-ish).

What is the reason for the transfer? Is the Y due for an overhaul?

Not an overhaul. Just some attention where they have the facilities to carry out the work.
I'm not privvy as to what the work is.

After experiencing hot box issues between Lethbridge and Bannockburn, the cheery little Y112 had eventually made it's way toward Bannockburn and around 25 minutes later through Gheringhap :

Thanks Eddie. So much for the S circular as discussed previously in this thread as the train departed 15 mins early ahead of the scheduled 1pm departure. Would have been nice to get a shot or two at Warrenheip and in the forested part between Navigators and Lal Lal.
Overall, I was happy with the day and to think this loco was built in 1889, a real piece of history, and thanks must go to everyone past and present at Steamrail for restoring it to working order and keeping it operating for us to appreciate.

Great to see this locomotive up and about it reminds me of 1210 at Canberra its a shame that it is having troubles at the moment.

It should be noted that Steamrail Ballarat started it's restoration in 1987, but it stalled due to engineering problems around 1990. In 1994, the now defunct West Coast Railway picked up the reigns; moved the parts of the loco from the old SEC siding to Ballarat East, and completed the restoration in 1996. WCR managed the maintenance and running of the Y until they shut up shop in 2004, when the mantle was passed back to Steamrail. The loco is maintained by a group of Ballarat locals (some were involved with the loco at WCR), but visits Newport for maintenance still occur, as there is no access to proper maintenance facilities in Ballarat anymore.

You would have thought anything Major would have been done when it was off it's wheels at Newport almost 2 years ago?

Heard it is going to newport to access the wheel lathe.  Who knows.

Was it off it's wheels?

Perhaps you'd like to tell us a bit more, as you obviously know a bit more about it than most of us...Wink
