Noticed on the way in via the Armadale line the train's wheels locked up due to the water on the tracks during braking to the temporary speed restriction. I am guessing that the A series does NOT have ABS!
  hello Station Master

My bad didnt click on the updated railcar allocation. Didnt expect tp to be so lazy and still have the old allocation up

95 is being delivered from Maryborough QLD. Made its way through Sydney a while ago. 22 more sets to be in service over the next 3 years. Would've been an interesting site if I still lived in Sydney.

95 is now at being commissioned at Midland railway workshops and is just days away from being transferred to Nowergup where the set will receive signage, seating & carpet.

I noticed this morining on the Thornlie line that the AOA was a bit lost again... We would depart oats street then about 10-20 seconds later: "This is Oats Street"... "Next stop: Carlisle" *Train pulls up, loads/unloads passengers and leaves the station* About 10-20 seconds later... "This is Carlisle"... and so on into Claisebrook where I disembarked. Did anyone else notice something similar this morning?

The B series are making a brief return to the Thornlie spur, I believe it's two 3car sets however I could be wrong, today it was 64 & the other set was unknown if it were two this is due to all the extra 4car sets running services to Showgrounds & Fremantle

That would most likely be the case. Also: If you do get the train to the show then do NOT take the shuttles as they are ALWAYS crowded. Just take a regular fremantle line service as they ALSO stop at showgrounds station and are usually emptier than the shuttles

Indeed!  I'd go to the show just to ride that if it were still around.  Many, many times I wish I could go back and experience the suburban system before the modern, reliable, safe, fast and utterly characterless electrics.  I can only vaguely remember the diesel railcars and the "orange rattlers" (ADGs).  Riding the ADK and ADLs in Auckland will have to do.

The closest you can get to those nowadays is at the Hotham Valley Tourist railway. The modern day diesel railcars that operate out of perth are just like the electrics except that they have an engine instead of overhead lines powering them (And the differing seat layout and the toilets which I am sure that some commuters would also appreciate on the long trips on the suburban trains!)

Bus and train collide in Perth
The West Australian October 23, 2013

Passengers escaped serious injury after a bus and train collided in Perth's eastern suburbs this afternoon.

The crash between a Transperth train and a Transperth bus occurred at 2.40pm at Kelvin Road and The Crescent in Maddington.

There were about 50 people on the train at the time, and no passengers on the bus, a Public Transport Authority spokesperson said.

Emergency services and investigators have attended the crash scene at a level crossing.

The PTA said no one was seriously injured in the crash.

"The driver appears to be shocked but uninjured," the PTA spokesperson said.

Transperth used social media to notify train passengers of disruptions to services today.

"Armadale Line services are cancelled between Cannington and Gosnells due to an incident," Transperth tweeted.

"Train-replacement buses are being arranged." Replacement buses will operate between Cannington and Gosnells stations until further notice.

The PTA is still assessing the situation and will provide a further update when  information is available.

I haven't seen it in service, it was in testing about a month ago, don't know what's happening with it maybe it needs to be timetabled in.

Speaking of testing; At about 11:34 I noticed a test train going through the Oats street station to Armadale/Thornlie. It appeared to be an A set and it was not new (faded paint on the electricity pickup is a dead giveaway). I wonder what they were testing - don't they usually conduct driver tests with an experienced driver in active service?

No, there's definitely more closures leading up to Christmas, Doggie015. The Armadale/Thornlie line will be closed between Monday December 2 and Friday December 20. Check the track upgrades calendar: http://www.transperth.wa.gov.au/ServiceUpdates/Trackupgradeprogram.aspx And yes, rail replacement buses will be provided.

My guess is that the line would be closed to facilitate construction on the new Stadium station. So blame Barnett not the PTA. That said, we do have a great system, Jaroo! It's easily the most reliable in Australia and is constantly used a model for small-scale suburban rail around the world.

Geez; when were they going to be telling us about this?

Ah well; at least there is more than one line I can use to get into town! But why close the WHOLE LINE when just the bit between Burswood and Claisebrook will be worked on?
