Could someone help me with the arrival times in Toowoomba of the empty SX cars train for the Spring Bluff shuttles and the ARHS steam from Brisbane on Saturday?

I've been trying to find the times for saturday, and the Silver Bullet Railmotor.  ARHS-QLD doesn't seem to show times for services that have sold out?

The shuttle train with the loco run round standing away from the station. It pulls into the platform around 15" before departure.

Phil,

Re the westlander. Book sooner, if at all possible. I am told that the L set carriages as used for the winelander and westlander are being retired next year, date unknown.

Hence next summers arhs winelander to stanthorpe and wallangarra in february is being advertised as the last one. And graham tells me the remaining m sets are not suitable for range use.

With no replacement carriage sets or trains on order, the westies clock ticks louder than ever.

The M cars (painted steel bodies) are being retired. The L cars (fluted stainless steel bodies) can't run as a set on the range...

Some of the Westlander sitters are literally rusting to pieces. I believe the organiser of the ARHS special tours refused at least one car ex Westlander for a Winelander trip due to the gaffer tape covering large sections of rust.

The power car looks terrible in that regard. It's amazing the cars are still in service

I'd be booking soon if there's no chance of the 'L' cars (stainless steel) replacing the 'M' cars on the Westlander. Hence my comments above after being a frequent traveller on that train last year....I'm amazed the Westlander is still running Exclamation

The LAD and LAS cars have been used previously on the Westlander service;  they were restricted to 15km/hr through the tunnels and at Spring Bluff they could only use the loop due to their profile being out of guage.

I have not seen them used on this service lately.

Thanks for that information. I wasn't aware of the reasons why the 'L' cars couldn't travel on the Westlander. Those restrictions you mention would have no impact on the current timetable at all.

Perhaps there is still a chance of the Westlander operating under different circumstances when the crunch finally comes....which I thought would have been well before now.

The Vinelander

Mike, no; the impact of those restrictions is negligible if any at all.  It is 30km/hr from Murphys Creek to Harlaxton apart from 25 through the Holmes, Spring Bluff and Rangeview.  The same restrictions apply to container trains going through the tunnels too.
