The Regional Heritage Transport Association-Junee, Inc., (operating division, Tumba Rail), has been granted a Notice of Accreditation, effective as of the 27th September, 2013.
This notice allows us,
i) for Railway operations - rail infrastructure: to manage, maintain, repair, install or operate railway, railway tracks and associated structures within the Ladysmith Station and Precinct between 539.251km and 540.289 km along the Wagga Wagga to Tumbarumba Rail line, NSW once an access agreement is made with the infrastructure owner for the purposes connected with the conduct of the accredited person functions as a Rail Infrastructure Manager,
and
ii) For Railway operations - rolling stock: to maintain, repair, modify, operate or move, or cause the operation or movement by means, Track Vehicles and associated equipment within the Ladysmith Station and Precinct between 539.251km and 540.280 km along the Wagga Wagga to Tumbarumba Rail line, NSW once an access agreement is made with the infrastructure owner for the purposes/manner of carrying out, for the operation and restoration of rolling stock or infrastructure maintenance activities for which the accredited person (functions as) the Rail Infrastructure Manager.

The next step is the finalizing of the Safety Interface Agreement with John Holland Rail, which is happening as I speak; this will lead to the finalizing of the Heritage Operators License. This is expected to happen in the next couple of weeks.
Tumba Rail has already successfully carried out its Track Awareness course; medical 'kits' have already been sent to (most) members, and techie stuff is being looked at. The choice of beacon - now mandatory under the new regs - is a Jaycar item that has a magnetic base and runs on 3 x AAA batteries. Vehicles with no batteries or generators (e.g. Fairmonts, VW's) or vehicles with a battery can use a power adapter; the vehicle must use a battery as the beacon has to run when the engine isn't. This beacon will be trialed as appears to be suitable for Tumba Rail use.
Vehicle batteries has been investigated, with a number of second hand batteries to start with - no pun intended - have been sourced.
