Poath - they were on sale at Epping where I bought TV-3 and TLV 2. The short T's are lacking in the ice hatch department though.

Am I misreading the link for these wagons? It says there are 4 wagons in each pack then above the price it states "Packs of three" Eh?

A typo that will no doubt be fixed soon (just as the TV3 pack is now corrected) - rest assurred there are 4 wagons in each pack.

Iain - The wagons have been available since late May via exhibitions, they will soon be available via mail order hence more details & pics now going on the website.

Some of the early short and long T vans did only have the 2 ice hatches on the roof and later a centre hatch was added so it is correct ,very little info is available on what the numbers were though , the lettering is in 5" so thus putting them in the correct era

Ouch Wink

Who knows... with China increasingly expensive manufacturing and $AU getting back to where it really belongs (well $US where it once was), maybe make 'em here or Nigeria Idea

Better grab some PacNat 81s.

John has never been a big fan of anything in the Candy paint scheme. From past discussions with him he thinks they don't sell.

John's a very shrewd businessman, I don't believe his opinion would be based on thinking, he'd know.

Out of curiosity (but knowing the answer I think) has anyone seen pics of the Austrains 81 Class 8101 in the "original" Tuscan/Indian Red colour scheme?

Yes "think" was the wrong word although he has no option with the upcoming 81 release.

I thought the reason for no Candy on this run was in the news letter?

"The rerun is, by necessity, limited in its scope. The factory will no longer do numerous variations of colours and numbers so, this run consists of 442 class in Indian Red, Reverse and Freightrail Blue"

,Has anyone seen any pictures, full stop! I know I won't be ordering in case it looks as if the 81/G/BL should be in the basic range.

Sample pics have been posted in this thread, in other forums, and many many people have held & examined the samples at various exhibitions. The year old pics shown at http://www.vr-enthusiast.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=727&p=12594 should be enough for you to decide if they're Basix.

They mention S truck and "other" dont buy the other until you see ours. Who is the "other" Powerline? Will they come out in a 10pack ? and how much ea . Thoughts ?

I recall reading somewhere the older Austrains (tooling now owned Bob's Hobbies) composite S Wagon was going to get a slight revamp, just as the MRC recently had.

I didn't get a chance to take photos, but when I saw the samples of the 81 at Liverpool, I can assume you it is definitely not part of the 'basix' range. It is on par with current Auscision detail, and running performance I guess will be the same as what's standard now.

I agree with your frustration on the 81 release pics - BUT I can say that yes I have seen the painted samples and they are very nice. Sharp details and the front end and mansard roof line is captured well. I have already ordered both candy versionsas a result of seeing but missed out on the tuscan version...but I'm not to fazed by that! The PN and Blue FR versions are nice also and again no complaints there.

I think you wont be dissapointed - but I agree I like to see what I am buying before shelling out the $$$. I will probably get the BL/G also just to make up the fleet.
  Dazz Deputy Commissioner

Where does it say the Tuscan ones are no longer able to be ordered?
  kingfisher Chief Train Controller

Thanks for the replies, looks like I can order with some confidence that they will be top class models.
