Since when has a GL been on broad gauge? News to me.....I believe Brian is referring to when these wagons were delivered, the BG ones were on the back of the SG ones. Now, obviously, they're on their own. For someone who doesn't follow every minute detail of operations, it would be an easy mistake to make.![]()
These are presumably the empty SG flats returning north that brought the BG ones to Melbourne? It's G512 headed south to North Dynon with the BG ones from Somerton, with the SG ones at Somerton awaiting something like new bogies to join their counterparts.

The SG wagons will join the Harefield later this week and run full time on that train. They are ready to roll, always have been.I really doubted they would have needed new bogies myself as they are brand new and capable of making it to Melbourne with the BG wagons on top. Where do these ideas come from?
The Vline addenda has the SQEF wagons numbered from 0 up to 50 and the SG SQEY wagons numbered from 51 to 90. The opening post said there were only 15 of each wagon on the first shipment. So if it's correct another 35 wagons are to come for the broad gauge so that would make the whole Maryvale rake if they are going to 50 wagons as suggested or I guess some could go onto the Deni.
Indeed. Since 14 of the wagons 00001-00015 are on 9471/2 at any given time......If I were a betting man, i'd be betting there will be 50 BG wagons numbered 0-50
If I were a betting man, i'd be betting there will be 50 BG wagons numbered 0-50Well 1 - 50...
I'd be wary about betting on any wagon numbered 0, although I've seen one numbered 0000 at Port Augusta (I can't recall the code, it was a departmental flat car). 00001 is much more likely. And surely they would be 0 to 49 if there were 50 of them....
Clearly the original post reversed the identities of BG and SG vehicles.
I'm pleased that V/Line has the details right. The ARTC list (and whatever the former RailCorp list is called now) are just confused about names of operators and nothing is ever removed or corrected and other details are just as doubtful.
And I have already asked about the reliability of the "60+30" numbers quoted elsewhere.
Would 40 wagons be enough for the Harefield services?
