The 'new' LDP's

It's been months and months since I last posted anything on RP, lets see how it goes this time.

These new loco's seems to be somewhat elusive, I haven't head a whole lot about them nor have I been able to find any photo's of them (Even the Railpage loco database doesn't really say much about them). The latest motive power says that LDP's 016 - 019 are GT42CU-AC and the last issue says they were destined to be leased to PN.

So what's the go with these loco's? Has anything happened to any of them apart from running trials and being stored? And also is LDP 015 an actual loco or a number gap between the two different loco types?

Photo's would be great too if anybody has them as I am curious about what colours they have been painted in/if they have been painted at all.

Cheers everyone and thanks in advance

These locos have been constructed by EDI Downer in Maryborough Qld. I have seen photos of them in the EDI yard. Current paint in those photos was basic PN colours with no numbers, logos. lettering etc, although at least one was predominantly white. They are the same as the PN 83 class/Aurizon 4100 class. I don't know anything about LDP015, but I suspect it is a gap.

LDP015 was renumbered as 8347, I would assume in anticipation of hire? If any information comes to light from this thread, I'll gladly update the database accordingly, but as you've noted in your original post DounutCereal, there seems to be very little information going! Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

I'm not even sure these locos have had running trials, the four LDPs and 8347 were still stored at EDI Maryborough in October, although LDP 019 and 8347 were being worked on at the time. They're all narrow gauge obviously. The sudden death of the Cloncurry magnetite traffic probably impacted on PN's need for these locos, but they may be needed at some point.

Any news on LPD 10 to 14? Any operator interested or still waiting for a operator?

LDP010, which has been stored with LDP011 beside the Main Northern Line at Cardiff Works for a number of months, and was in this location on 17/06, had moved to points unknown by 21/06.

SCT have handed the LDP's back to Progress Rail. These units will now be used by PN on intermodal services.

This thread is about the 1067mm gauge LDPs built in Maryborough Qld and subsequently sold to PN, thus I fail to see the relevance of this post.

Picked up on another thread 2 x "white label" LDP's on an UP Steel to Melbourne.

@bevans, you are still posting stuff about Standard Gauge LDPs in a thread about Narrow Gauge LDPs...
