Seems they have made a error..

NEW signage that mistakenly refers to one of Devonport's tourist attractions as ``Don Valley Railway'' could cost the business customers. The attraction, Don River Railway, is misnamed in signs installed at the intersection of Stony Rise Road and Tugrah Road.

Wonder how much these signs are worth and I hope they correct this soon as this could be quite a blow.

Certainly a stupid mistake, but should be easy to fix. If they are stick on letters, simply remove "Valley" and replace with "River". If not cover "Valley" with "River". It wouldn't be the first time...

But they might just leave it there like " queestown" at Kimberly where it's been for about 10 years

Wouldn't be the first time a council has had to coverplate a sign.  They do it all the time, not the end of the world.

Apparently one of the signs points people away from the railway!

These signs I think have a special laminate over the top of the letters, I think its a anti glare laminate.

I don't know why the council workers bothered putting them up.

The one pictured points to Tugrah road, only houses down there! Maybe you could have been able to see the Melrose line down there years ago but the road probably wasn't there then!

Oh well, I guess they can unscrew it from there and put it in a more appropriate place...

These road signs come under the auspices of D.I.E.R. higher level bureaucrats than DCC.

According to the article in the Advocate:

The Department of Infrastructure, Energy and Resources approved a sign design that named Don River Railway correctly, a DIER representative said. It provided the Devonport City Council with approval at least six weeks ago to allow it to make and erect the signs.

An update has been posted that the signs will be fixed quickly and also tries to shift some blame.

Yeah I suppose a council worker wouldn't of noticed and only thought about the time they could take putting it up, while whistling at school girls lol *Jokes*

Over here they put a sign up explaining deep sewarage works for the area while it was going on. They put the sign up, upside down. Came out to fix it. It was still upside down. Who knows what they were thinking.
