  MC3801 Train Controller

Hi Everyone,

This Saturday, the NSW Rail Transport Museum will be hauling a private charter Thirlmere. 3642 will be hauling the train for the forward journey, and 2 CFCLA Locomotives for the return journey.

Here is the link to the TAA.

Does anyone know the why the trains are limited to 100km/h? From a search it appears all the rollingstock should be rated for 115km/h.

Cheers.

At a guess, 3642 is supposed to be driven at 100km/hr max (might be wrong)
and as for the return journey, perhaps axle loading of the CFCLA Diesels restricts them to 100km/hr.

I could not imagine the utilsed 442 & 422 classes in CFCLA colours would be axle load limited too much. Saw both the down and then up trains through Lidcombe station on Saturday.

So, the TAA specified that a 442 and 422 were going to be used? Nope, it didn't.  And did I make the post after the trip was ran? Nope, I didn't.

What I did do was make an educated guess due to the CF class having been used on NSWRTM train trips before. And their weight  (dependant on fuel loading) is restrictive.

So, as it would appear, either NSWRTM Operations staff didn't want the train to go fasted than 100km/hr, or something else was the reason behind the restrictive speed imposed.
