One of Tasrails brand new locos, TR06, was on display today at the Hobart Regatta, in front of the Regatta Grandstand. This was the final stage of Tasrail's "Tour de Tassie" which featured TR06 (one of the latest arrivals) being displayed in Burnie, Western Junction and finally Hobart.
The public displays were very successful, with many people dropping by to look at Tasmania's first brand new main-line locomotives since the arrival of the last two 'ZA's in 1976.
Tasrails public & corporate relations staff have done a great job in re-engaging with the Tasmanian public, after years of isolationism from the preceding private owners (ATN & PN). The last public engagement I can recall, was the East Tamar Jctn. Open Day put on by A.N. coinciding with the introduction to service of the 'ZR' class rebuilds.
Tasrail's Facebook site has some good coverage of the displays:https://www.facebook.com/Follow.TasRail?sk=wall
