Where is this grain country scene ?

Wild guess. Weethalie.

Not a bad wild guess, Spletsie. You are just in the right corner of the state but have well over 100 km. until you get there.

No Spletsie,

It would have been better to move south rather than west. Trains presently can not go under that grain loader. The loco is almost as far as it can go.

Rodo

....probably because the track under the loader is still BG at this former break of gauge location, and the track the loco's sitting on is now SG, all the way to the Vic border and beyond?

Looks much like Oaklands to me, though not when the missus, you & I visited there a few yrs ago.

Wurx has described the situation perfectly at Oaklands. There is a bank of dirt behind the gates to prevent trains attempting to be gauge convertible. Then a hundred metres or more of BG which leads to an overgrown SG track heading north through Coorabin.

Thank you cuz - knew it was somewhere I had been. How long ago was your pic taken?

Floor is open, I've naught to post that isn't Archaeology or something else unsuitable.

The picture was taken at the end of November showing the Greentrains/El Zorro 80 class loco abandoned there with a rake of grain wagons.

I will post another pic soon if nobody beats me to it.

Looks like Main North line about the Lower Hunter and out of date enough to be classed as archaeology.

Rodo

What dates are deemed to be included in archaeology?

Lower Quadrants lasted a  fair while in NSW

I think Rodo might have been talking generally rather than specifically.

And there are still some LQ semaphores in use: Berry & Bomaderry for instance, and also at several locations on the lines that run from Binnaway to Dubbo, and Binnaway to Werris Creek.

Sorry a6et, I'm clueless for the moment regards your pic.
