It would definitely be a waste of $400k if the 1-year trial is a failure.

Greasyrhys, $400k wouldn't cover the North Tce pollies lunch money for a week!

Got this link from another Forum Labor vows to reopen Millswood Station.
Seems it all hinges on Labors 1% chance of winning next months election, Liberal's closed it years ago looks like they are going to keep it closed. I wonder if Vicki Chapman (Shadow Minister for Transport and Infrastructure) is just going to brush the idea off.

nscaler69 - Thanks and well done for putting it up on the forum page, I note the local liberal member Pisoni ? is the only person opposing it in the article.

The thing more likely than anything else to can it is that Labor trumpeted it so loudly.

Ironic when they have had months to put the station back into service. It would not cost $400,000 to pull some weeds and put a quick top coat on the platform surface. Arguably the lighting should be upgraded; easily done with about 8 solar power LED luminaires like those used at Fairfax Ave PLX, cost overall about $32,000 for lighting and $5,000 for surfacing. If the trial demonstrates that Millswood is dead then the lighting fittings can be used elsewhere.

While it's true that a couple of hundred thousand here and a couple of thousand there sooner or later adds up to real money, just to put it in perspective, $400k is 0.0025% of the State's annual expenditure (or 0.09% of the projected 2015 deficit, depending on your point of view Smile).

Hey AFULE, just wanted to take a moment to thank you for your original post.

There's post after post calling you a liar and the news fake, but after being proven correct there's still been no thanks and although I played no part feel bad reading through all this... so thanks again for bringing this interesting news forward Smile

I endorse this comment wholeheartedly. Keep up your posting AFULE. There are some others on this list with similar thoughts to your own, and it would seem that you have had professional rail experience that is shared by only a few of us.

As someone who has loved puff puffs from an early 1930s childhood to the present but is far more interested in light and heavy rail taking their proper places in our national transport mix, I hope to read much more from you.

I like to thank the people who supported me in regards to this post and who are aware of my nearly fifty years in the rail industry and my commitment to rail, once again thank you.

Just to let you know I attended a little gathering today at 1.30 at Millswood Railway Station with about twenty of the locals who have been pushing for this station to be re-opened for nearly 19 years, it was good to see the joy on the faces of those people.

The Premier Jay Weatherill, and local member Steph Keys came along to meet the locals on there way to another commitment, it was interesting to hear the locals state that they had appro
