That was interesting - first time I have ever terminated a service at Port Kembla North, of all places! My driver and I half expected we'd be terminated at Cringila.

We didn't have to wait for the bus coming from Port, as it would take anyone on board straight to Wollongong, and so departed Port North precisely on time.

Just had a look at the Sydney Trains website: as of a minute ago, the situation as posted by 4206 is unchanged.

It would be easier these days just to broadcast when the Illawarra line isn't screwed! How does an equipment repair at Mortdale end in a shuttle on the Cronulla line??

Pre 2005 there was an morning peak service that terminated/commenced at Port Kembla North. I always thought that was weird. Smile

Because the trains which normally would have run to Cronulla are instead terminated at Sutherland then run back to Bondi Jct. It decreases the delay times of trains. With this failure, they were doing bi-di running across one of the tracks between Hurstville and Oatley which meant immediate delays to most services.
