All station trains travelling towards Cronulla and Waterfall on the T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line are not stopping at Wolli Creek from 6am until 10am and from 4pm until 8pm on weekdays due to urgent track repairs at Wolli Creek.

So if it's urgent, why are they waiting for the peak hour? Isn't it more logical to try and fix it before the afternoon peak hour, that way only one peak hour would be affected.

In respect to the repairs required on the Illawarra Line at Wolli Creek:-

Normally, all Down trains are tabled to use the Down Illawarra Main Line.

However, during Peak Hours "All Station" Services running on the Down between Sydenham and Hurstville will cross from the Illawarra Main Line at Wolli Creek to the Local Line.
The crossover at this Location is where the repair to the Infrastructure is being carried out.
Forcast for completion of repair work is 3 weeks.

To minimise delays, during Peak Hours, "All Station" Services will cross to the Local Line at Sydenham and hence will not be able to Stop at Wolli Creek Station.
In this way, Down Express Services can be maintained as per Timetable.
It should only cause minimal disruption, in the Peak Hours, to Passengers travelling from Tempe to Wolli Creek, or Passengers travelling from Wolli Creek to intermediate Stations between Wolli Creek and Hurstville.

And the people in charge of announcements should make sure to use the correct platform speakers. It's a bit hard to hear platform 5 announcements, from platform 2 at Hornsby, especially when the train already came in on platform 5, and saw that all passengers had to get off!

First, it was stay on P5, no, go to P2, nope, go back to P5, nope, go to P2.

I was just browsing through upcoming trackwork while planning some western trips, and see that the Blue Mountains line, especially west of Mt Vic, is going to be continually closed for never-ending trackwork.

Can anyone help me with the exact nature of this ongoing work?

For many, many months this section has been regularly closed, including regular weekday shutdowns.

Is it really in such poor repair that it is in imminent danger of falling apart? Are the tunnels about to cave in? Is the geology about to give way? Or are they installing some new whiz-bang systems?

Maybe I am just unlucky, but it seems that whenever I even think about heading up the mountains, trackwork is planned. Is there an end in sight, or is this the new normal.
