Why are CFCLA diesels assisting heritage trains lately. That Southern Aurora special out west that came back early last week was hauled by 2 x CFCLA diesels?

Apparently all of the RTM'S Diesel fleet, needs various amounts of repair work done, and so I assume they have leased these Diesels until such time, as the repairs are carried out

Interesting observations,  the pre trip publicity  usually states the "the trip will be hauled (assisted) by one of our heritage diesels" - are they all broken?? 44211, 4490, 4001, 4916, 4833, 4306 & 4520

Not sure where GL and FL locos fit in , an assumption is there must be plenty of $$$$ available now it's under the government control as Transport Heritage NSW to fund locomotive hiring from the private sector.

There's a few needing attention 4520, 4001, and D1, D1 was replaced by 4833 on the turntable for shunting duties, not sure about the rest.

Heard the same, a number of small things have caught up with these locos and they need maintenance and while they are having things sorted out have some hired in help. I have no idea about what they have that is operational and what is not but this problem comes and goes with all heritage groups across the country. It's not a big deal surely.

I guess be glad they can hire a locomotive in as many groups cannot.
