I have to ask poath .

How can your computer see things before mine and others which run hours or days behind yours ?

Anyway I like what I see and more money going to orient express .

Orient express models make up about 65 % of my rollingstock collection .

I accidentally spilt champagne on the motherboard, ever since then the PC has been psychic. hmm, that could make the basic plot of a Hollywood movie....

I'm going to take a wild guess and say you use Optus for your internet. The curse of their proxy cache still lives on, and can only be defeated by an Optus user doing a forced page refresh (either manually or via the browser settings). Once one user has forced the refresh all users see the updated webpage, if no one does a forced refresh the stale version can still be in the Optus cache weeks later!

Keeping things back on topic, the D vans do look rather nice.

I wonder if OER will do the other version of these vans with the passenger bogie on them DP was the class of them. All it takes is a model of the bogie to be made as these are not available at the moment. These bogies were similar to a 8300 brakevan bogie but had a smaller wheelbase on the bogie!

It would add one more type of these vans to their catalogue and also add a bogie to their range which could be used under other SAR wagons like RBP's for example!

Well there are a few matter to comment on.

Firstly Poath could you remind me how to do a cache refresh manually.

Secondly Big Bear - SAR sheep wagons are done by Model Etch as a kit.

Finally I am interested in the history of the SAR D van and its relationship to the SAR M as well as the VR V can anyone point me to this information?

Cheers

I have no interest in building kits anymore and I am not paying $ 160 for one kit . Iain

Where as I am happy to pay $ 109 for a pack of two models Ready to run by Orient Express . Where I buy a lot of them .

I did pay $ 125 for packs OZ rail cattle wagons .

But yet again they where not up to Orient express standards . Which is why I only got 4 packs instead of 8 packs .

So dumb question for the day... what was the difference between the D vans and the M vans?  The Ds were louvred and hence better ventilated, e.g. for carrying produce or something similar?

Nice looking wagons, too, might have to grab a couple of packs for that price!!

I'm sure a few travelled across via Ballarat to Tottenham?

Makes sense.  Anyone know what the D stood for?  F(lat) and O(pen) were obvious, and I'd always thought that M was for Merchandise, but I'm a little stumped in the D (and now unsure on the M Smile).

I think D was used simply because L for Louvre was already in use so rather than re class a whole class or classes of wagons they simply used another letter that had not already been used.

My packs arrived today. They're in the 'add a resistor to a wheel or two' pile right now but they look very nice.

Mine arrived in the post today, (Australia post must have worked on the public holiday!) impressive plonkers as always, I like the small details like having spoked wheels on one bogie and a solid wheels on the other. Looking forward to the advertising M vans next!
