PN's S301 status ?

    Sorry to dig up an old thread but it's interesting to note in the latest edition of Motive Power they had their yearly loco roundup and only 2 S's appear in PN's fleet, S301 is nowere to be seen. It makes one wonder if it was forgotten in the list or if it has changed hands.

    Would imagine it's just been forgotten. There's been absolutely no talk on any of the groups I'm a part of on FB regarding any new developments with it. The next place to look at would be next issue's Departure Road, it's likely to contain omissions from the fleet list like in years past.

    Cant see anything happening with 301 any time soon. Imagine they still own it. Perhaps its just been fogotton?

    The OP specified that "only the other two were mentioned", so it sounds like 306 and 307 are accounted for (stored in both counts, I'd imagine), only 301 was omitted.

    Did Pacific National ever use S301 on freight after acquiring Freight Australia? I know it was used to run a few fan trips, to Bairnsdale and Wycheproof I think, but was it ever used on freight?

    Yes, Motive Power mentions S306 stored at South Dynon (Vic) and S307 stored at AFT Islington (SA)

    S306 can actually be seen stored at South Dynon from the Citylink Elevated Tollway between Footscray and Dynon Roads.

    I believe I read here (still looking for the thread) S301 was stored at Newport in Melbourne.

    Yes it was, I had S301 on grain trains quite a few times. I had it on the Maryvale Paper train once. Spent quite a bit of times on Grain Trains around the state.

    As far as I know, it is stored at Newport. I have no idea on it's exact status other than that.
