Railway Archaeology: where is it? #2

Far-ish north maybe? On closer inspection, that track does appear to be NG rather than SG...........
wurx

Don't be misled about the gauge here. It is SG - the appearance of NG is an artefact of Street View. So you don't need to go especially far north just to find an NG location.

Pic brought forward, I hope:

Eugowra branch, approaching Cowra?
wurx

Precisely! It is at the junction of Mulyan St and North Logan Rd, where the road jinks and crosses the branch.

This location featured in a 1991 episode of the TV series Inspector Morse titled "Promised Land", which was filmed in Cowra and Canowindra. The final shoot-out took place at the yard at Canowindra.

Staff to you, Wurx.

Geez Surprised That guess was something of a what we call here at Railpage a WSITD (wild stab in the dark). Had no idea that the dart would land smack in the bullseye.

The suggestion of an embankment made me think of how the Eugowra branch at its beginning snakes all through Cowra on a series of embankments and (now removed Evil or Very Mad ) trestle bridges.

I'm working very early in the morning, and so have to hit the cot now.

Be patient good peoples and I'll find something to post tomorrow arvy Smile

And there I was thinking that you must have some inside info!

But, you are clearly as good a detective as Inspector Morse ever was when it comes to evidence of old railways.

Btw, if you have never seen the episode in question, it is worth a watch, not only for the railway interest but also for the surfeit of archetypal  "Australianisms" (as judged from the UK, presumably, but maybe with advice from ABC or whoever) incorporated in the plot and script. For example - all watching the Melbourne Cup in the pub; pommy bastards; she'll be right, mate (parting words from the NSW detective to Morse). Makes me feel right at home!

I must make it my business to have a look at the Coolah branch one day; been there as a kid, but the trains were still possibly running then (hidden oldies' joke Wink )

Not Craboon.

This view is looking east, and Down towards Tumbarumba. Tarcutta township is not visible on the other side of the trees in the background. The line is truncated at this point (there are many others) probably due to improvements (and the removal of a redundant levelxing) to Humula Rd, which is right behind me; the former station site is another 300m west behind me.
