The samples at Thornleigh looked great and it seems as though they are doing plenty of variations on them. Looking forward to seeing further information on them.

Right, then. I wasted some time, did some research and went from knowing nothing about such things to knowing very little.Will any of the Strath kits be more suitable? Not sure what an AMRZ looks like (old codes?) However Strath make brass kits for at least 4 AN vehicles and another 6 or more VR and NSW Car Carriers.
The ALX/VMBX versions would be the models required as the basis for an AMRZ (those AMRZ that I have seen, anyway). Unfortunately all of the ALX/VMBX models are being produced with fully sheeted sides.
Converting a flute-metal sided ALX/VMBX model would involve:
• disassembling the model
• VERY carefully removing most of the side sheeting including where it is moulded onto the back of the diagonal framing,
• filing the lower and upper decks flat and adding different tyre guides,
• bogie replacement,
• the addition of screen sides and their framing,
• the addition of lots of little wheel bracket holders.
Given how difficult it will be to remove the side sheeting from the framing and how much of the model will need to be discarded I think that a scratch build may very well be a better option.

I've mentioned it here before, but I still find it amazing that the latest Australian car one can get for their layout is the bevan Car of the Year, namely a 1988 VN Commodore!
Here's hoping we see a spread of Falcons some EF/EL, AU, BA and FG's; same with Commodores such as VT, VZ, VE etc. Utes and wagons would be good too!

Prior to the SG through to Melbourne cars were transhipped at Albury onto flat wagons, bodies were sent in open wagons.
You can not charge much for them when you need 8 per wagon so design has to be common to keep costs down. I do not think there would be that many modern modellers out there that would want for example a VE commodore to plonk on their layout.
If we take the overseas experience most stuff is based on the transition era 50s-60s cars and structures, even here in Australia it is always the original as released versions of diesel locos that sell out. That's where the biggest market is and that's what the Manufacturers target.
Awesome to see Auscision do the NODY and all it variants, these wagons are essential for anyone who wants to model a steel train that has run in the last 30 plus years, its going to be a very expensive 6 months me.
I was thinking 70s/80s as that covers both 3 and 4 letter codes.Just noticing that Auscision sell car interiors and loads at about $20 (probably a price rise due?)
There are already generic plastic blobs in red yellow and blue colours you can get from Athearn or someone like that.
Auscision tend to do detailed models so I don't see them doing a Generic car. I think they will be specific models. Maybe for Example XD falcon 1979-82 which I think had the highest build number for a falcon model ever in Australia (nearly 200 000 cars produced).
With the wagons they are producing the Ford train could be modelled that was a block train from Melbourne to Cooks River.
Very true many makes of cars over the years were transported including Crysler,Leyland,Datsun,Nissan,Toyota,Ford,Holden,Mitsubishi,VW ect.
Will be interesting to see what they end up producing.

The Strath kit should be spot on except for the required addition of the mesh sides and associated framing. The mesh would be difficult, but perhaps not impossible, to model convincingly. I believe that the Strath kits are very well done but I have yet to part with the money 'cos I just know that an RTR model will be announced as soon as I do. However, if Strath were to depict a current day AMRZ with no additions required by me then I would buy a couple because I think such a model would perhaps be beyond the capabilities of mass production RTR.
Of course enough hints are out there to suggest the missing models are being done by another producer.

Notice how the colours and the body styles are randomised. How they sit almost bumper to bumper.
Who remembers vinyl roofs? Two tone paint and the very first metallic paints that started to emerge , but only on Premier's and Fairmont's.

All I heard was that it might have been a VR engine, possibly a D3 or A2? But the D3 is from another so as strong rumours persist the A2 is being done and its not supposed to be the long winded Eureka one
So the question is do we think Auscision intend adding steam into their mix?

I was assuming that Auscision might engage in the C38 as its O Gauge project was out there - made sense to follow suit. And that the Eureka project had such a luke-warm reception and the big delays for a rerun ex the factory - the makings were all there for a trump release.....For me doing a proper 38cl is a no brainer & after the release of the Eureka models it made just as much sense, it is no different.
Also there seems to be a pattern with the 49/45 already done in O that it might be more likely....
Oh well - just see what happens.
Also need to know when that V Set order sheet will be out - looks like they are expecting a JUL16 release.
