The Fowler took the train to Coles Beach with dragging brakes on the AD van causing it to work pretty hard. The brakes were adjusted at Coles Beach. Â Apparently the loco steams and runs well if attention is paid to detail.
A problem arose with the right side outer eccentric rod making a clicking sound around the twelve o'clock position of the eccentric. This did not effect operation of the loco. This will be rectified shortly.
The post restoration repair and rectification list for this loco was five pages long. Many tedious hours were spent by a member undertaking spring rate calculations to take into account the extra weight additions that where added behind the rear wheels. For an 0-6-0 the loco is not a bad rider to what it was previously.
Now the locomotive is performing satisfactorily there are still few things to do to improve efficiency.
