Orange Sydney Trains Hop Signs

Hornsby has been repainted in the new SYD Trains Corporate Colours & the signs rolled out, including a backlit Orange T Sign with white background being hung from The George St Bypass Pedestrian Footbridge.

What birdbrain in the Sydney Train organisation came up with "T" symbol? They go and change a perfectly accepted sign showing a train image outline with the letter "T".

Now the one outside Hornsby station on the westside is right next to the "taxi" rank. Maybe people think it is to indicate where the taxi ranks are? Or does is stand for "Trams"?

Why are they wasting money on signage which worked perfectly well? Give them a few years and when the next changing of the guard comes in they will have a new colour and signage. Leave it alone.

I agree. They are also way too small. They can be difficult to spot amongst all the other street clutter.

I presume a private consultancy/ design company was paid a princely sum to come up with the idea. It will change a year or so after the Google Messenger 'ap' or whatever 'with it' idea it's based on has become unfashionable. However, if it wasn't regularly changed we would still have this. Not that that would be a bad thing.

Sorry if I missed it, but what is a "Hop" sign?

A pretty silly sign.  Not everyone is going to realise that a letter "T" means that you are near a railway station.  And they picked a light orange colour, which is not particularly visible.

This government has perfected the art of using window dressing to make it look like they're doing something.

I like the colour that tied onto the modes of transport. But the "T" signs needs to be bigger, indeed.

Here is a recent article from SMH, about the new "T" signs. Not surprisingly hardly anyone likes the new signs.

Whats annoying is the new signage on the suburban platforms in the subways at Central.

At the stairwell entrances the signage used to have what lines each platform served such as Inner West, City Circle, etc and also the colours and T numbers which I was just getting used to.

Now they simply have the number. Absolutely useless. The problem is when you change between platforms. They could at least put a PID in its place, or simply put the old signs back. (in the new colouring if they must)

OK. Now we have a schematic map mounted. Better late than never.
